What I love about my job:
“I enjoy learning new terminology about the brain and spine on a daily basis. There’s always something new that I come across. I feel pretty proud about working in a place that makes such an immense impact on people’s lives. Being at the front desk we always get to hear patients express their gratitude with our doctors and staff. I think that’s pretty awesome!”

Outside of work?
“I love spending time with my son outdoors and doing different outdoor activities/games with my family.”

“I consider myself a History Enthusiast: I'm obsessed with learning about the past, whether its people, geographical regions, historical figures you name it! In another life I would've loved to have been an historian.”

“Not many people can say they have their dream job and it never gets lost on me how much I enjoy the days no matter how challenging some may be. I’m honored to work for people I admire and thankful for how much they teach me day in and out.”

“I love a routine and a schedule. You will always find me going somewhere or doing an activity during my time off. This girl loves a plan! Love to travel to see friends and family. Work out every morning before work; it’s the best way to get your day started.”

Dr. Walpert is the founding partner and one of our renowned Neurosurgeons at Piedmont Athens Neurosurgery. She has practiced Neurosurgery in Athens for over 20 years, raised a family in the Athens community, and let’s be honest, spearheaded our practice into what it is today. Dr. Walpert’s patient-centered approach to medicine is at our core and we are grateful for the example she sets forth daily by listening to her patients and providing the best care for their specific needs.

What I love about my job:
“I’m motivated by seeing patients get better and their smiles when they come back in the office and I’m motivated by the people I work with”

You probably won’t see her in the office because her primary role is in the at the hospital in the surgery suite making sure patients are taken care of before, during, and after surgery. Donna is one of the most caring individuals and we are lucky to have her on our team at Piedmont Athens Neurosurgery.

We asked Donna to share a little about herself so you can get to know her even better—because at Piedmont Athens Neurosurgery, you’re part of the family too.

What I love about my job:
“Being a part of a team that saves or improves lives every day is incredibly rewarding. I love working closely with my surgeons in the OR and my job is never boring. After 35 years in the OR, I’m still in love with the mission of helping patients…even if they never knew I was there”

Outside of work:
“You’ll find me with the sweetest man on earth…my husband, Chris. We’ll either be at church, playing a “friendly” game of co****le or cards, or somewhere in the water!”

Fun fact:
“I love salt water fishing”

Cody is part of our team of elite Registered Nurses here at Piedmont Athens Neurosurgery. He is back and forth from the office and the hospital making sure our patients are taken care of pre and post operation. His patient care skills are unmatched and he truly encompasses all that we stand for in our patient centered practice. Cody is a true asset to our team and we are very fortunate to have him at Piedmont Athens Neurosurgery.

What I love about my job:
“I mostly enjoy the environment. We have a group of providers/team members who all have a common goal in mind – helping patients get back to a better quality of life. There are no big egos and everyone is willing to help. It’s the best work environment I’ve ever been a part of.”

Outside of work?
“I enjoy working around the house and spending time with my family and dogs”

Fun fact:
“I like to spend my spare time woodworking/building”
