COMCorps partner Rural Action honored COMCorps Alumni Mike Kubisek with the Lifetime Achievement Sustainability Award for all of his efforts to get healthy local food to folks who need it in Southeast Ohio. Mike served for two terms in COMCorps as the Federal Hocking Member from 2015-2017 (in his 70's!), and even after his service ended, he was a constant presence at the Athens Farmers Market and the Chesterhill Produce Auction. Mike was proud to be a resident of Coolville and embodied service leadership. As our friends at Rural Action say below, "Mike was one of the many folks who quietly do the work that helps to hold our communities together". He is sorely missed!
🌱 Meet Our Sustainability Award Winners – Week 7 🌱
Continuing our 7-week series, today we’re proud to spotlight Mike Kubisek, recipient of the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award (Posthumous)
Mike Kubisek was one of those people who showed up in many ways to help people. Mike was a retired teacher, a sign language interpreter, and a former President of the Lottridge Community Center. And he was a key partner with Rural Action in our efforts to help get healthy local food to people. Mike was a regular at the CPA, and would take produce and eggs to the library in Coolville and eastern Athens County. Mike was one of the many folks who quietly do the work that helps to hold our communities together, and he will be missed.
