Heavy lifting.
Soaking in tubs or pools.
Intimacy before your doctor clears you.

These may seem like small details, but they play a critical role in how well your body heals after bladder prolapse or bladder leakage surgery.

As a board-certified urogynecologist, I counsel every patient on what to expect during recovery, including my 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months healing timeline and specific activities to avoid at each stage to protect your repair and prevent setbacks.

The good news is that with the right care and precautions, most women recover well and regain their comfort, confidence, and quality of life.

Fear. Frustration. Not knowing what to expect.
These are just some of the feelings women share with me when they finally come in for prolapse care.

Over the years, Iโ€™ve noticed three common reasons why women put off seeking help for their prolapse symptoms.

๐…๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฎ๐ง๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ง
That first moment you notice a bulge or pressure can be frightening. Many women tell me they thought it was something much worse, like a tumor. That fear kept them from getting checked.
The truth is, the sooner you come in the more options we have and the easier it is to restore your quality of life.

๐๐จ๐ญ ๐ž๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž
Women are so good at caring for everyone else. Spouses, children, aging parents, even their coworkers come before themselves.
But prolapse doesnโ€™t improve on its own. In fact, it tends to get worse over time.
It is better to address it while your tissues are stronger and more resilient rather than waiting until it becomes more severe and harder to fix.

๐“๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ
Many women have shared that they waited because they wanted to find the right doctor, someone they could trust. Someone who would listen, understand, and create a treatment plan that is right for them.
That trust is what I strive to build with every woman I see.

If any of this sounds like you, comment below: FEAR, TIME, or TRUST. Letโ€™s start the conversation ๐Ÿ‘‡

When you are ready, I am here to help you feel like yourself again.

A 46-year-old woman came to me with symptoms of uterine prolapse: pelvic pressure, discomfort during s*x, a visible bulge, and difficulty with bowel movements. She had tried Kegels and a Pessary, but they didnโ€™t relieve her symptoms. Thatโ€™s when she decided to opt for surgical treatment.

As a board-certified, fellowship-trained urogynecologist, I performed a robotic hysterectomy and used AI-powered robotic tools to reattach the top of her va**na to strong pelvic ligaments. This added step is critical in helping prevent future bladder and va**nal prolapse.

In this post, I walk you through:
โœ”๏ธ Signs of uterine prolapse and when to consider surgery
โœ”๏ธ How robotic surgery works to prevent future pelvic organ prolapse
โœ”๏ธ Why this approach offers faster recovery and better long-term results

You donโ€™t have to suffer in silence. There are safe, effective solutions that restore your comfort, confidence, and quality of life.

Painful s*x, low arousal, labial irritation, va**nal
burning, dryness, odor, urinary burning, urgency and bladder leakage.

Not easy things to talk aboutโ€ฆ
Discomfort, frustrationโ€ฆ.

Unfortunately, this is what many women live with during perimenopause and menopause.

However, the good news is that women nowadays donโ€™t have to live or put up with it. There are many safe and effective solutions that can improve a womanโ€™s comfort, confidence and quality of life.

Such a rewarding experience educating women at the recent Perimenopause and Menopause Symposium in Cu***ng, Georgia on โ€œGenitourinary Syndrome of Menopauseโ€.

Be sure to watch my YouTube video on this topic. Link in the comments.

What Is a Pessary? A Nonsurgical Solution for Prolapse and Bladder Leakage ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

Have you felt a bulge, bladder leakage, or pressure down below that makes daily life more uncomfortable? You're not alone, and you don't have to live with it.

As a reconstructive pelvic surgeon, I recently met a woman in my office with symptoms of prolapse. She had tried pelvic exercises like Kegels for months, but they weren't helping anymore. Surgery wasn't an option she wanted, so she turned to something many women don't know about: a pessary. A pessary is a soft, silicone device fitted inside the va**na to support organs and reduce prolapse.

There are different types, depending on your needs. Some examples include:
โžœRing Pessary
โžœDonut Pessary
โžœDish Pessary
โžœGellhorn Pessary

Women with prolapse often live in silence, thinking it's just something they have to endure. But there are real, practical solutions that restore confidence and comfort.

What to Expect After Bladder Prolapse Surgery

If you've been told you have a dropped bladder (also called bladder prolapse), surgery might feel like a big step but recovery is usually smoother than many expect.

One of my recent patients came in after noticing she had to lean forward to empty her bladder. Then came the pressure, frequent trips to the bathroom, leaking, and finally a bulge she noticed in the shower. Thatโ€™s when she reached out to me.

We diagnosed her with bladder prolapse, and she chose surgery.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Most surgeries like this are outpatient and take under an hour.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Youโ€™ll usually go home the same day.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Recovery happens in stages: 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months.

Hereโ€™s a quick breakdown:
โœ” First 2 Days: Walk, and move around, but no heavy lifting or submerging in water.
โœ” At 2 Weeks: You may feel great, but healing is still happening.
โœ” By 6โ€“8 Weeks: Most patients resume full activities, including exercise and intimacy.

And pain? Most patients rate it only a 1โ€“3 out of 10. Many donโ€™t even need pain meds after a few days.

You donโ€™t have to โ€œjust live with it.โ€ If youโ€™re experiencing symptoms of a dropped bladder, you have options.
