Our next read!

Starting next Thursday, we're diving into all about love by bell hooks.

All About Love is the acclaimed first volume in feminist icon bell hooks' "Love Song to the Nation" trilogy. All About Love reveals what causes a polarized society, and how to heal the divisions that cause suffering. Here is the truth about love, and inspiration to help us instill caring, compassion, and strength in our homes, schools, and workplaces.

In this landmark book, bell hooks explores the question “What is love?” Her answers strike at both the mind and heart. Disputing that the ideal love is infused with s*x and desire, she provides a new path to love that is sacred, redemptive, and healing for individuals and for a nation. All About Love is a powerful, timely affirmation of just how profoundly love and community can change hearts and minds for the better.

What if therapy could feel a little more like play?

My Dungeons, Dragons, and Therapy group is a space where you get to step into an imaginative world, try on new roles, and connect with others in a creative, supportive way.

This group blends the power of storytelling, roleplay, and community with therapeutic tools for growth. You’ll get to:
- Use your imagination in a way most adults don’t get to anymore
- Practice communication and problem-solving in a safe, fun environment
- Explore new parts of yourself—your courage, your boundaries, your creativity
- Connect with others who are curious, thoughtful, and supportive

If you’ve been craving both personal growth and a chance to engage your playfulness and creativity, this might be the perfect fit.

I'm accepting adventurers into the group now! Our next meeting is in September, so be sure to reach out and schedule your intake before then. I'll help you create your character during your intake! Applications are open now for our next cohort!

You can email me or reach out at the group page on my website. Can't wait for you to join the party 🙂

Have you ever noticed yourself going quiet about what you really want in a relationship? Maybe you’ve said “yes” when you wanted to say “no,” or softened your opinions to keep the peace.

Harriet Lerner calls this de-selfing—a pattern where women especially lose touch with their own needs, desires, or beliefs in the name of keeping connection. It’s more than healthy compromise. It’s a slow erosion of self.

When we chronically put our partner’s wants above our own, the relationship can feel lopsided, and we lose a sense of who we are.

Healthy intimacy means bringing your whole self into the relationship—not shrinking to fit.

We all deserve relationships where we don’t have to disappear to belong.

New Episode on the Pod!

What if two things that seem opposite can both be true? In this episode of Permission to Pause, we explore the concept of dialectical thinking—a core skill from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that helps us move beyond black-and-white thinking.

Check it out on Spotify or on Apple Podcasts, and let me know what you think!

Also, feel free to comment or share with me any topics or practices you'd like to see in future episodes.

Hi, I’m Maggie 👋

I’m a therapist who works with women who are smart, thoughtful, and capable (whether they admit that or not), but underneath, they’re exhausted from carrying the emotional weight in their relationships, saying yes when they want to say no, and feeling like they have to earn their worth.

They come to me wanting to better understand and communicate their emotions and desires, gain more confidence, and not let anxiety and fear hold them back from living their lives to the fullest.

In therapy, we slow things down. We get curious (not critical). We identify what really matters and needs to be prioritized. And we build boundaries rooted in compassion and love. You don’t have to keep doing the same thing over and over without getting any results. Let therapy help you try something new.

If any of this resonates and you're living in Georgia, I’d love to connect!

You can head over to my website (link in bio - rosebudpsychotherapy.com) to learn more and to directly schedule a call with me to feel out if we're a good fit!

Hope to talk to you soon.

Come Read with Us!

I host a weekly book club focused on reading books around mental health, wellness, self-growth, and social change. This group is open to everyone, therapists and non-therapists alike.

We meet at 12 pm EST on Thursdays, from 12 - 1. You can bring your lunch!

Our goal tends to be to read 2-3 chapters a week (or as much as you can get to), and then we come together and discuss how we are digesting and understanding the material, how it relates to our lives, and how it relates to our communities.

Our next read is What it Takes to Heal by Prentiss Hemphill.

If you're interested in joining, please reach out to me either through my website or by emailing me at mmalone@rosebudpsychotherapy.com.

Happy Reading!

Shifting how you talk to yourself about things can be a simple but powerful way of reducing your suffering and getting unstuck.

Here are a few examples of shifting from a judgmental or all-or-nothing mindset to a more affirming and grounded one.

Which one do you need to practice the most?? Share in the comments - or share one of your own!

We get really good at saying we’re “fine," but beneath the surface, usually we got more going on.

So here's an invitation to pause and do a mid-week check-in with yourself.

What are you actually feeling right now? What's been coming up for you this past week?

Maybe they are words you aren't ready to admit out loud, but it can be helpful to just name our emotions to ourselves. It's a form of self-validation and showing up for yourselves that is as simple as pausing and noticing.

New episode of Permission to Pause out now 🎙️

This week:
Permission to Feel: Making Space for Emotions

(Or I called it Soften, Soothe, Allow on this picture because it fit more easily on the graphic - not confusing at all, right?)

Most of us weren’t taught how to be with our emotions—we were taught to suppress, avoid, or overthink them. But what if your feelings aren’t too much or something to fix… what if they just need space to exist?

This week on Permission to Pause, we’re practicing one of my favorite tools from Mindful Self-Compassion: Soften, Soothe, and Allow. It’s a gentle way to meet your emotions with care instead of criticism.
