Sseko is a socially-conscious fashion brand that employs women around the world to create beautiful, quality products. Through our scholarship program, we are creating opportunities for some of the brightest young women in Uganda and Ethiopia to attend university and become leaders in their community. EVERY party hosted here in the U.S. increases the number of jobs & scholarships we are able to create moving forward.

My Why

Sseko has my heart, and I want to share with you why that is and why I am doing what I do! 🌎💜There are so many things that we can buy today with just a click of a button. But have you ever stopped to think who made your items or who your purchase impacts?🤔 To be honest with you, unless I was at a farmer's market or craft fair, I generally did not. I love sales and purchasing items for my family for the best price possible, and that was my biggest focus. But then I was introduced to Sseko!💜

At Sseko, every item is made lovingly by hand in a fair trade certified facility where employees are treated fairly and dignifiedly. They actually sign the tag of every item they make and you can look up on our website their name and see their beautiful face!! We provide meals and paid vacation as well as educational classes and more to all. We even have scholarship programs in Uganda and Ethiopia! All of a sudden my childhood dreams of wanting to go to Africa and help people living in poverty rise up and have a better life seemed to maybe be a possibility, albeit in a different way.

At Sseko, every single purchase directly goes towards providing jobs and education for women who live in poverty and who are struggling and fighting for a better life. I want to introduce you to a very special member of our global team! Every year, each fellow gets the opportunity to take a quiz and be matched with a Ugandan sister who is either a full time employee or a current scholarship student. Last year's quiz opened up in February and I was matched with someone very special.

Meet Sandra! Sandra was one of 13 women who were hired at Sseko at the beginning of January last year! During the final quarter of 2020 we had enough parties, sales and new fellows join that we were able to create 13 brand new jobs! This is extra meaningful for me because during that quarter I made my first purchase, had my sseko party and became a fellow. So my contributions directly contributed to creating these 13 jobs 💜🌎
