This year’s theme:
“Mental health is a universal human right”
Start by taking care of yourself. You are not a machine. Just because you can handle a lot of stress does. It mean you should. Remember that your mental health is critical to your over all health and well-being.
Stress can cause health problems by getting the body stuck in fight-or-flight mode. When the body is under constant stress, the hypothalamus triggers the adrenal glands to release a surge of hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. This can lead to the body becoming overexposed to these stress hormones.
What can you do?
- Make choices that support your mental health.
- Be creative about getting your finances in order.
- Support programs, policies and laws that enhance the mental health of the people in your community and country.
- Don’t spend all your time working and caregiving to others. Take care of yourself. - Do something fun
- Meditate
-Journal to get things off your chest and out of your mind.
- Exercise. Walking is fine.
- Talk to someone you trust
- Reach out to a doctor or mental health professional
