May all beings know the hope of true freedom.

May abundance be shared so all have enough.
May all beings stay connected to the love of family.

My artist self has felt the most urgency to respond recently. It has been the feelings of displacement that have choked my breath and weighted my heart. Displaced people, displaced grief, anger, displaced ideology. In some divine intervention it was actually the call to make these Japanese Jizo statues that drew me back to my artist self a little over a year ago and into the ceramics studio . I only was able to understand why I needed to make them just recently. Now I know they are for the displaced. For those who lost and know grief.

The catastrophic destruction in western North Carolina isn't getting the national coverage it needs. Entire communities are cut off from aid and complete towns have been washed away. These are the lives of real human beings. The mountain towns of southern Appalachia are beautiful places. We travel this area often and hold a special place in my heart.
Please consider donating to this community's recovery efforts. These are amazing people. They are working to rebuild their own community while also sharing all their skills to help those around them. Thankfully everyone is safe. The same cannot be said for their roads and bridges.
