**👏 AMR is investing in Mental Health together*

We’re proud to recognize and congratulate our dedicated staff who participated in the GRIN (GRoup and INdividual) Peer Support Training Course this week. This impactful program brought together team members from across our organization, including Virginia and Texas Operations who share a commitment to supporting their peers and fostering a culture of mental wellness, including GMR Therapy Dog, Bailey. :-)

The training was led by Shad Thomas from GMR Life, whose expertise and passion for mental health advocacy truly made a lasting impression. Our staff gained invaluable skills in crisis intervention, active listening, emotional regulation, and support techniques that are essential for any peer support role.

This training is an important part of our continued efforts to equip our team with the tools and knowledge to care not only for the communities we serve, but for one another as well. We know that a strong peer support network contributes to a healthier, more resilient workforce.

To all participants — thank you for stepping up. Your dedication to creating a supportive work environment sets a great example for our entire organization. And to Shad — thank you for your leadership and for empowering our team with skills that will make a difference every day.

🚨 Exciting Promotion News 🚨

Congratulations to Shandeana Price. She has accepted a career opportunity to work with the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Team - Logistics.

Shan began her career in emergency medical services in 2011, earning her EMTB certification, and went on to obtain her AEMT licensure in 2012. She joined AMR DeKalb in 2015 as an AEMT, where she quickly demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership. Her advancement to Field Training Officer (FTO) opened the door to additional responsibilities, including a key role as a 610 Dispatcher.

In 2021, Shan transitioned into the role of Scheduler, which provided further opportunities for growth and involvement with OEM operations. Throughout her career, she has contributed significantly, including participation in nine deployments and taking a lead role in managing the Deployment process at the Stone Mountain cache site.

Shan’s commitment to excellence, adaptability, and operational knowledge have made her a valued member of our team. Not only that she is well respected amongst her peers. We are confident that she will bring the same level of dedication and professionalism to her new role in logistics administration.

👏Leadership in Action

We would like to recognize Chief Wilmond Meadows of AMR - DeKalb Operations for his continued commitment to community engagement and public health. Today, Chief Meadows organized a highly impactful community wellness event in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Frontline Response. https://www.frontlineresponse.org

This event was attended by AMR Dekalb, EMS Chief Operations Manager, Lance Hester, Manager of Healthcare Systems & EMS Transformation, Israel Contreras, Interns, Tomi Amubioya, Kemarra Anderson and Paramedic, Ericka Jackson. This initiative was designed to support residents by addressing key health and safety needs during the peak of the summer heat.

The event featured:

💧Free Hydration Bags which included a mix of hydration essentials such as water, cooling towels, snacks, and other helpful goodies

🩺Blood Pressure Screenings to help individuals stay informed about their health status

👩‍🔬Basic Health Education and Outreach to increase awareness around emergency medical services and prevention

🤝Direct Engagement with the local community, fostering trust and strengthening the relationship between first responders and residents

The turnout was remarkable, and the feedback from community was overwhelmingly positive. Events like these are vital in building healthier, safer neighborhoods—and they reflect the mission-driven work of our EMS leaders.

Our Leadership team, exemplifys what it means to go beyond the call of duty. Their dedication, planning, and hands-on involvement ensured that the event was not only well-organized but also meaningful and effective.

Fireworks are a staple of summer celebrations, but it's crucial to handle them responsibly to avoid injury or fire. Keep these safety tips in mind for a fun and accident-free experience:

💥 Follow all instructions and warning labels on the packaging
💥 Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of fire
