Unfortunate update from The Lactation Network/TLN regarding BCBS/Anthem plans: Starting July 14, The Lactation Network (TLN) will no longer approve BCBS/Anthem plans.
That’s important because most lactation consultants in private practice can’t bill BCBS directly — and TLN has been the only way to get covered visits.
If you have Anthem/BCBS and you're already approved, your six visits are not impacted.
If you have Anthem/BCBS and you get approved by July 14, your six visits are not impacted.
If you're planning to become pregnant, pregnant, postpartum, or think you'll need lactation care in the next 2 years:
Apply for TLN approval NOW before the deadline. Reach out to your IBCLC for their link! It'll only take 5 minutes to submit the form at their link.
Approvals are usually good for 2 years, but you must apply by July 14.
This is ONLY for those with Anthem/BCBS. IBCLCs can almost always take Aetna, United, Cigna in network.
If you have questions, be sure to reach out to your IBCLC.
You'll just need their TLN link. Always best to use your IBCLCs link and NOT the link on the TLN website as your IBCLC is paid less if you go through TLN directly versus through the IBCLC's own link. https://go.lactationnetwork.com/JulieChampeauLLCDBAGrowTogetherLactation
