Honoring my dear mentor, Dr. Grant Carlson, as he celebrates his well-earned retirement. ❤️
Dr. Carlson served as Chairman at Emory for 15 years, and I’ve been lucky to know him since I was a first-year medical student. He taught me how to be a surgeon— but more importantly, how to be a doctor. He led by example: treat patients with love and respect, listen deeply to their wants and needs, and always remember why we chose this profession in the first place.
And of course, no tribute would be complete without Phil Collins Radio playing in the background and a few classic Carlson-isms… “Let’s wail.”
So grateful for his mentorship, wisdom, and heart.
