Intellistars ABA

Intellistars ABA We believe we do the best work when we can see our efforts take effect.

That’s why we favor the learning environment most natural to the child under our care: your home. With two offices in Georgia and a nationwide growth plan, we become part of your child’s family so we can observe them, serve them, and celebrate them from win to win.

🎃 Pumpkin Seed Pumpkin Craft

Overview:
A fun fall art project where kids paint pumpkin seeds, then use them to decorate a pumpkin picture. This combines sensory play, fine motor skills, and creativity!

Materials Needed:

Pumpkin seeds (cleaned & dried)

Orange paint

White paper or cardstock

Crayons/markers to draw or color a pumpkin outline

Glue

Googly eyes (or paper eyes)

Steps:

Paint pumpkin seeds orange and let them dry.

Draw or color a pumpkin shape on paper.

Glue the orange seeds inside the pumpkin outline to fill it in.

Add googly eyes to turn it into a silly or spooky pumpkin face.

Why It’s Great for Kids with Autism:
✔ Provides tactile input from handling seeds
✔ Encourages creativity and choice-making
✔ Strengthens fine motor skills (picking, gluing, placing seeds)
✔ Gives a finished product kids can proudly display

✨ Optional Extension: Use different colors (green, yellow, white) to make patterned pumpkins or pumpkin families.

Thank you for this wonderful craft!

✨ Care to Share: Rebecca’s Story ✨

“Hi, my name is Rebecca. I work in the school system, and one of the children I supported found adult interactions very aversive when I first met him. By approaching with compassion, care, and meeting him at his level, we slowly turned those interactions into something positive.

Over time, not only did he begin to engage, but he actually named adult interaction as one of his top reinforcers by the end of services. Being part of that transformation was truly rewarding, and it reminded me how powerful patience and empathy can be.”

🌬️ The Wind Blew Parachute Storytime 🎨✨ Read-Aloud: Start with The Wind Blew by Pat Hutchins. As you read about each item the wind carries away, children can act it out with the parachute!

How to Act It Out:

• Use a parachute (or large sheet) as the “wind.”

• Place props on the parachute that match the story (hat, umbrella, balloon, paper, scarf, etc.).

• As you read, shake the parachute gently so the “wind” blows each object into the air!

• Children can take turns tossing in props and watching them “fly.”

Why Kids Love It:

✔ Combines storytelling with movement

✔ Builds listening & turn-taking skills

✔ Provides calming rhythmic movement from the parachute

✔ Encourages imagination while connecting story to action

✨ Extension idea: After the story, invite kids to predict other things the wind might blow (leaves, toys, pumpkins!) and act those out too.

🍁 Leaf Man Story & Craft 🌟

Read-Aloud:
Start with Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert, a beautiful autumn story about a man made of leaves who drifts through fields, orchards, and meadows. The colorful illustrations spark imagination and get kids excited about fall!

After the Story – Create Your Own Leaf Man!

Collect different shapes, sizes, and colors of leaves (real or paper cut-outs).

Provide glue, construction paper, or cardstock.

Encourage children to arrange their leaves into their own “Leaf Man” (or Leaf Animal, Leaf Monster—whatever inspires them!).

Add googly eyes, acorns, pinecones, or other nature finds for fun details.

Why It’s Great for Kids with Autism:
✔ Hands-on sensory experience (touching textures of leaves)
✔ Builds creativity and imagination
✔ Encourages storytelling and sequencing
✔ Supports fine motor skills with arranging & gluing

🐿️ The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game

A playful way to build skills while having fun!

In this award-winning game, children help their squirrel collect acorns by spinning the spinner and using the “squirrel squeezer” to place acorns into their tree stump. The first player to fill their log wins!

🌟 Why It’s Great for Children with Autism:

✅ Fine Motor Skills – Using the squirrel squeezer strengthens hand muscles and improves grasp for writing and daily tasks.
✅ Color Matching & Sorting – Kids practice visual discrimination and early math skills while sorting acorns by color.

✅ Turn-Taking & Social Play – The game naturally teaches patience, waiting, and celebrating peers’ turns in a fun, low-pressure setting.
✅ Emotional Flexibility – Special spaces on the spinner (like “lose an acorn”) give gentle practice with winning, losing, and coping with changes.
✅ Visual & Hands-On Learning – Bright, colorful pieces and tangible play help keep children engaged and focused.

💡 Therapists and parents often use this game in ABA sessions or at home to strengthen social, cognitive, and motor skills—all while keeping kids motivated and having fun.

🌟 Care to Share: Christiana Shielda 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Christiana Shields to Intellistars ABA! She shared that when Miri sent her an invitation, she thought it would be the perfect opportunity to network, mingle, and get connected.

Christiana brings a meaningful story from her previous work experience: She once worked with a 9-year-old boy who was nonverbal. She taught him American Sign Language, and as he gained the ability to communicate, his challenging behaviors declined. For Christiana, that moment—seeing him express himself and connect with others—was one of her proudest achievements.

We’re so glad to have Christiana join the Intellistars team and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make with her care, dedication, and passion. 💙

Meet Allison from McDonough, Georgia! She’s currently working as an RBT while earning her hours toward becoming a BCBA. Allison is passionate about helping individuals grow in independence and celebrating every milestone along the way.

One success story she shared was with a client she described as an amazing individual. Together, they worked on life skills like washing hands. Not long after, the parents reached out to share the most exciting update: their child was now washing hands all on their own, no prompts, no reminders.

For Allison, moments like this capture why she loves this field. Each skill mastered is more than a task, it’s a step toward independence and confidence.

🌳✨ Tap… Tap… Tap… ✨🌳

Have you tried Tap the Magic Tree with your kiddos yet? This book isn’t just for reading—it’s for shaking, wiggling, and giggling your way through the seasons! 🍂❄️🌸☀️

Kids get to:
👉 Tap the page to grow leaves 🌱
👉 Shake the book to make apples fall 🍎
👉 Blow a gentle breeze to scatter the leaves 🍁

For children with autism, it’s a perfect mix of fun + learning:
✅ Cause & effect in action
✅ Hands-on engagement
✅ A calming, predictable rhythm

It turns story time into magic time. ✨

💛 Question: Do your kids love the part where the flowers bloom… or when all the snow falls down?

🥧🍎 Sensory Pie-Making Bin 🍏🥧

Fall is the perfect time to mix a little sensory play with a whole lot of pretend baking fun!

Here’s how it works:
👉 Fill a bin with “ingredients” like:
- Oatmeal = oats
- Red pom-poms = apples 🍎
- Green pom-poms = green apples 🍏
- Cinnamon sticks = spice 🌿
- Felt circles = pie crust

👉 Create simple recipe cards (ex: “Apple Pie = 3 red pom-poms + 1 cinnamon stick + oats + crust”).

👉 Kids follow the card to “make” their own pies inside the bin!

🌟 Why it’s great for kids with autism:
✅ Hands-on sensory exploration
✅ Color matching & counting practice
✅ Sequencing skills (follow the recipe)
✅ Open-ended play that encourages creativity

It’s messy in the best way—and every pie turns out perfect. 🥧✨

💛 Shantia’s Success Story 💛

“Hi, my name is Shantia and I came out today for my baby to participate with her therapy at Intellistars ABA. It’s an amazing company. With my baby attending for over a year now, we’ve seen so much progress. She went from not talking to becoming verbal. Her behaviors have improved so much. Even when we moved across town, we stayed with Intellistars because we love it! My success story is that before, I didn’t feel a true connection with my child. Now, we understand each other. Even if she can’t always tell me something with words, she’ll grab my hand and guide me to what she needs. That connection means everything.” 🌟

Thank you, Shantia, for sharing your journey. We’re honored to be part of your family’s story.

🍂 New Season, New Routines 🍂

Fall brings so much change — cooler weather, shorter days, new teachers, fresh schedules, and shifting activities. For children with autism, these transitions can be both exciting and challenging.

At Intellistars ABA, we know that with the right support, small steps can make a big difference. A consistent routine paired with flexibility helps children feel secure while still embracing all the joys this season has to offer.

This fall let’s help kids build confidence, independence, and comfort as they adjust to new rhythms. 💛
