Today I want to take some time to acknowledge the who are on their healing journey. We don’t often hear about it because of all the negativity we see swirling in the [social] media, but I am honored that I get to witness it firsthand. Although the majority of the clients I work with are , the menfolk that I see are out here showing up… and when they show up, Y’all, they show out! They are consistent and committed to working through their trauma, developing effective communication skills, gaining self-awareness, building self-confidence, healing their relationships, AND embracing vulnerability as a strength. So if y’all didn’t know, hear it from me - Your Fave Therapist - that they outchea, and they are ENVISIONING, MANIFESTING, EVOLVING, [BEING] RADICAL, GROWING, and ELEVATING! I meeeeeaaan…. Sometimes you just gotta clear that throat chakra and give the people a lil’ verbal smoke! 🗣 🧘🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

😉 But seriously – Keeping it in (read: passive) can be problematic as it sometimes sends the message that your thoughts and feelings aren’t as important. This can lead to increased stress and anxiety, as well as anger and resentment. Now I’m not encouraging you to go out here and cuss folk out 🙅🏾‍♀️ (read: aggressive), but there are many benefits to direct/assertive communication… including healthy expression, healthy interaction with others, and even increased confidence.

📣 Tips on how to communicate more assertively:

📍“I”-statements: “I think __”/”I feel__”/”I need__”/”I want__”
📍Rehearse First: Practice saying what you want to say or consider writing it down first.
📍Check those emotions: Allow time and space for heightened emotions to calm.
📍Set those boundaries: Practice saying “No” or “Not right now” if necessary.

Moral of the story: Keep that throat chakra clear and stress minimized by communicating assertively! Asé 😉
