Sharing just in case you need a pumpkin pie recipe that is made without granulated sugar! Happy pie season.

If there’s one thing Chef Michael Symon has learned after years of hosting Thanksgiving, it’s don’t mess with the pumpkin pie! But this version — made with no granulated sugar — is a game changer. 🙌

🍁 Maple syrup + pumpkin = the perfect fall flavor pairing.
🍊 A hint of orange zest adds a bright, citrusy boost.
✨ Use a gluten-free crust for a flour-free option.

He calls it “the most pumpkiny pumpkin pie you’ll ever taste” — and we can’t wait for you to try it.

Whether you’re hosting or attending this year, this arthritis-friendly recipe is a delicious win for the holiday table.

Did you know there's an important connection between rheumatic conditions and diabetes?

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬:

🔹 Patients with rheumatoid arthritis have a 23% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes
🔹 Chronic inflammation, certain medications (like corticosteroids), and reduced activity due to joint pain can all increase this risk
🔹 Over 38 million Americans have diabetes—1 in 5 don't know they have it

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐨:

If you have a rheumatic condition, talk to your rheumatologist about diabetes screening. Regular monitoring, staying active within your abilities, and maintaining a balanced diet can help manage both conditions.

Questions about managing multiple conditions? We're here to help.

🩺 November is American Diabetes Month, and it’s National Diabetes Education Week — a great reminder of how closely rheumatology and metabolic health are connected.

Patients living with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, and other autoimmune diseases have a higher risk of developing diabetes. Chronic inflammation and certain medications — especially steroids — can affect blood sugar regulation.

Here are a few proactive steps to protect your health:
✅ Ask your provider if it’s time to check your A1C
✅ Prioritize gentle movement — even 10 minutes counts
✅ Aim for balanced meals to support inflammation control
✅ Never hesitate to discuss medication concerns with your rheumatology team

Managing inflammation supports more than your joints — it protects your whole body, including your metabolic health. ❤️

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor survivors, support those in treatment, and advocate for early detection. At Arthritis and Rheumatology of Georgia, we recognize the importance of whole-body health, especially for individuals navigating complex autoimmune conditions alongside cancer treatment. Many rheumatologic medications can interact with cancer therapies, and maintaining a close partnership between specialties is critical for patient care.

We’re committed to walking beside our patients through every stage of their health journey. This month, and every month, we encourage our community to prioritize wellness, schedule routine screenings, and take proactive steps for their health. Together, we stand strong in the fight against breast cancer. 💗
