A middle schooler told me the other day that they never leave the building the entire 8 hours that they are at school 😳.

Today, my kids did their “proper school” but still had time to be outside with friends playing kickball, catching fish and playing in the mud for a few hours. In short, they got to be kids & experience life.

There is another way other than what we’ve been taught is “normal.” I’m happy to encourage you in that if you need someone to give you a loving push 🫶🏼

8 weeks post artificial disc to lumbar fusion replacement surgery with an update!

Day 6 of in the books. These days are rough. There’s lots of pain, tenderness, frustration, but also so much GRATEFULNESS and HOPE.

My biggest recovery lessons so far:
- Ask for help. All the help. You’ll need it.
- Make small goals each day to help you stay focused and keep the confidence currency flowing (Ex: yesterday my goal was to hit 1,000 steps and submit a grocery order 🤭).
- Stay on top of the pain meds.
- Prioritize water, vitamins, real food and REST.
- Ice packs are my bffs.

Def still in a vulnerable and fragile physical state but taking it one day at a time over here.

Funny story- the airline stewardess escorting me off the plane saw on my back brace and said that his family member had received successful surgeries from Dr. Rasouli 🙌🏽 That was a confidence boost I needed that day 🥴

Getting discharged after 2 nights in the hospital, less than 48 hours after surgery. Feeling pretty good and oh so thankful for this surgical team 🙌🏽.

Flying back home in just 2 days to Atl. Ready to rock this covert one tiny step at a time 🤘🏽

I’ve been using plastic plate wear and silverware for my toddlers for every due to their durability. However, after learning that warming up food on plastic (or even just putting hot food on plastic) can cause plastics to leech into my kiddos’ foods, I wanted a non-toxic alternative.

These two purchases have been among my FAV swaps we’ve made (🔗 to both products in comments). These ceramic plates lined with silicone make them non slip and less breakable, and these glass mason jar cups have silicone straws and an outer liner.

The kids love them too as they feel like “big kid” plate wear!

Day 1 of lumbar spine revision surgery (ADR to fusion) & all has gone SO well thus far. Dr. Rasouli was able to remove the old hardware and to perform an A.L.I.F. (Anterior lumbar interbody fusion). I’m filled with gratitude to God, my husband, family & to the amazing folks at & Cedars Sinai Hospital for taking excellent care of me.

And now, time to 😴 and 🚶🏼‍♀️.
