We celebrated Eugene Day yesterday 🌺

We celebrate an amazing man who we talked with nearly every day for two and a half years.

While HappyTalks memberships include 1–3 calls per week, Eugene's family created a custom plan just for him - making him our only daily call.

He became family to our team, and he shared stories that will always bring a smile to our faces:

🎭 Working with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall as a teenager
✈️ Signing up for a U.K. vs. Korea deployment- a decision that saved his life
🎺 Seeing Winston Churchill at a parade in London
🚢 Sailing on big band cruises
🌍 Living in 16 different locations, with his most meaningful years in Hawaii through his service in the Air Force

This year, we made it official: April 1st is Eugene Day at HappyTalks.

He forever left an imprint on our hearts, and we will make sure to pass that love on. 💛

At HappyTalks, we're privileged to speak with elders whose lives are living history. 💛

Black History Month is not only a time to honor the visionaries who changed history, but also the everyday heroes who were thriving in the untold stories that inspired Carter G. Woodson to initiate the first dedication.

He dedicated his life to correcting the historical neglect and misrepresentation of Black people in American history.

Their stories remind us: history isn't just something we look back on. It's something we listen to.

This month, and every month, we celebrate our Black elders - for the legacies they’ve lived, the laughter they’ve shared, and the futures they continue to inspire.

Because connection is power and honoring someone's story? That's how we keep history alive.

Remember The Jetsons? 🤖✨

Rosie the robot wasn’t just a cartoon character - she was a glimpse of what’s possible.

This week at an AgeTech Connect event, we heard a story that stopped us in our tracks.

A grandfather with quadriplegia couldn’t speak with his 4-year-old granddaughter.

But when he received access to a robot through a university project, everything changed.

Through the robot, he could play games with her.
And she started talking to him.

It was a beautiful moment to see technology meet connection in a different way.

PS: the first little guy is Hercules. He wears a 4T - toddler size. ☺️

The second was the robot used by the grandfather that now plays with his granddaughter. 🥹
