FOCUS At FOCUS, our mission is to embrace and equip families of children with disabilities to make everyday life BETTER.

FOCUS offers programs, support, and medical equipment to children with disabilities and their families. Our services include:
• Parent support groups across metro Atlanta;
• Communication through weekly emails, social media, website and a regular newsletter;
• Parent training workshops specific to raising a child with a disability;
• Large and small group activities where families can meet and support each other in wheelchair accessible, adaptive, and sensory-friendly settings;
• Loaned and granted medical equipment not covered by private insurance or Medicaid;
• Saturday respite childcare (up to age 12);
• Adapted summer camps – day camps provided in 10 locations across metro Atlanta specifically designed for children with disabilities;
• Adapted swim teams that build skills and increase endurance; and
• Overnight camps and monthly social activities for teens and young adults.

Who is Eliglble?
✅FOCUS Kid must be between ages 0-21 AND
✅Have lifelong developmental and/or physical disabilities. Some common diagnoses include but are not limited to cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, degenerative illnesses, and rare genetic syndromes that REQUIRES MEDICALLY NECESSARY EQUIPMENT.
✅Are a Georgia Resident.
✅The total lifetime per child is $10,000 (Loaned equipment does not count towards lifetime maximum or grant per year limit)
✅Van-lift grants are one-time only grants, with a maximum of $10,000 (Please see guidelines below for those applying for van lifts)
✅Ceiling lift and stair lift grants are one-time only grants per child
✅Families can apply for one grant a year per child
✅Equipment must be purchased by FOCUS. We cannot pay for equipment already owned by the family
✅Family income must be below 350% of the federal poverty level. See chart on the website.

📌Van lifts, Ramps, Behind the vehicle lift systems
📌Transport style wheelchairs as a manual backup (ex. Convaid). If requesting as a primary wheelchair, you should pursue the wheelchair through your insurance funding (private insurance or Medicaid).
📌Activity chairs (ex. Tumbleform, Special Tomato, Rifton). *Include an insurance or Medicaid denial letter to be considered.
📌Materials for ramps for home access (Installation not funded)
📌Stair lifts
📌Patient care lifts *Include an insurance or Medicaid denial letter to be considered.
📌Custom bath equipment *Not covered by insurance or Medicaid

Slip into your not-so-scary costume 👻and come play under the autumn sky! We’ll have spook-tacular games, silly seasonal activities, and a hauntingly good playlist spun by our favorite DJ, Rockin’ Wheels. The Knights of Columbus will be serving up a sizzling barbecue lunch.

Eligibility:
• FOCUS Kiddo must be 29 and under at event date.
• Have lifelong developmental and/or physical disabilities. Some common diagnoses include but are not limited to cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, degenerative illnesses, and rare genetic syndromes.
• Parents and Siblings Welcome

• FOCUS does not provide childcare at Family Activities.
• Registration Required to attend.
• Event is outside, with limited shade.
• Menu is typically: Barbecue Chicken, Barbecue Pork, Macaroni & Cheese, Coleslaw, Dessert with tea and water. *If you or your child has an food allergy, please bring a meal/snack.

Share Groups are parent-led support groups that meet regularly to provide community, support, and resources to parents/primary caregivers of children with disabilities. FOCUS provides meals or meal cards free of charge for attending parents and primary caregivers. We kindly request that guests cover their own meal costs.

Oops! We forgot to show what was inside the Family Camp Welcome Bags from DSV - Global Transport and Logistics. These bags were filled with all kinds of goodies and practical items that are families enjoyed.

Family Camp was AMAZING❣️

Thank you to our host Twin Lakes for a wonderful, accessibly fun weekend!

Fishing🎣, paddle boat riding, BINGO!, ziplining, and more. There was so much to do during this wonderful family getaway. And oh, the company! So many old friendships rekindled and new friendships made. Until next time my friends!!❤️❣

Registration for FAST Fins, the FOCUS Adaptive Swim Team, is closing soon‼️

FAST Fins is a fun and adaptive swim team for swimmers with disabilities. FAST Fins teams meet in various areas throughout metro Atlanta. 🏊‍♀️Swimmers concentrate on perfecting swim strokes, improving stamina, developing team skills, building self-confidence, following verbal commands, and increasing fitness. There is a fun swim meet at the end of each season.
