FOCUS Parent Workshop: Guardianship: Get the Petition Ready

Join us with Heather Nadler, Partner with Nadler Biernath: Special Needs and Elder Law

This workshop will provide step-by-step instructions for preparing a petition for Guardianship of an adult who requires guardianship. Please note, this workshop is not for families trying to determine whether guardianship is right for them. This time will be spent discussing the nuances of the petition, and the procedural steps that will happen once a petition is filed.

Parent Workshops are held through Zoom. Participants will stay muted until Q&A at the end of the presentation. Our workshops are geared to the unique needs of children with lifelong developmental and/or physical disabilities. Recordings will be available on our Recorded Workshop page within the week.

Share Groups are parent-led support groups that meet regularly to provide community, support, and resources to parents/primary caregivers of children with disabilities. FOCUS provides meals or meal cards free of charge for attending parents and primary caregivers. We kindly request that guests cover their own meal costs.

Eligibility
•Be a parent/caregiver of a kiddo age from birth through 29 years old and have lifelong developmental and/or physical disabilities. Some common diagnoses include but are not limited to cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, degenerative illnesses, and rare genetic syndromes.

As a long-time FOCUS dad to a child with special needs, DJ will not only share his legal expertise, but practical, real-world experiences on how to thoughtfully plan for your child’s future.

We had a spooktacular time at the Boo-B-Que over the weekend🎃.

Friends came dressed in their not-so-scary costumes 👻, rocked to the tunes of DJ Rockin Wheels and enjoyed the delicious food provided by the Knights of Columbus.

It was great way to spend a beautiful fall day🍂.

We’re so thankful for our amazing FOCUS Ambassadors, the Raschke family, who represented FOCUS at the Syndrome Association of Atlanta’s Buddy Walk! They had a wonderful time meeting new families, celebrating inclusion, and joining in all the Buddy Walk festivities. 💛👟✨
