Herbal Medicine is ideal in that it's proven clinically effective, (over hundreds of years in many cases), very few adverse side effects, (can be taken over extended periods of time if needed) and is very cost efficient. Modern Western Medicine can be amazing and life-saving but is rarely desirable over the long term, (there are exceptions like blood pressure and thyroid medications). Since 1986, 75 cents was been added to the cost of every recommended vaccine to create the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund, (VICP) associated with a lawsuit claiming the DPT shot caused autism, with about 1000 claims and an undisclosed vaccine manufacturer settlement. Here is the data on the over 5 billion dollars paid out by the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund since then and the stats on which vaccines had the most claims and payouts. Good info if you're trying to judge relative risk for you or your child as to where to be cautious in the vaccination arena! In general the old rule of "don't get a vaccination while your actively sick" should still apply as it increases chances of an overreaction by the immune system (autoimmune). Dr. Talley
