Our goal is to:
• Connect LGBTQ+ school counselors across Georgia
• Provide a safe space to share concerns and experiences
• Offer resources and share best practices to support our students and each other

School Counselors, we are in for a treat!!! It’s almost conference time and GSCA has an amazing opening keynote speaker, Dr. Lisa Hinkelman, the CEO of Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX). Hinkelman describes herself as a counselor, educator, and researcher. ROX has become the premier authority on girls’ education and empowerment, with programming in nearly 600 schools across 44 states, which has transformed the lives of over 50,000 girls.

Dr. Hinkelman will be GSCA’s opening keynote speaker on Wednesday, November 12 at 2:15 p.m.

Happy Monday, School Counselors!! GSCA has an open call for officer nominations. The following positions are now accepting nominations for the 2025-2026 fiscal year:

* President-Elect
* Treasurer (Term ends June 2028)
* Middle Director (Term ends June 2028)
* Counselor Educator Director (Term ends June 2028)
* Northern Director (Term ends June 2028)
* Southern Director (Term ends June 2028)
* Finance Committee (Past President) (Term ends June 2027)
* Finance Committee (General Member) (Term ends June 2027)

The nomination period ends on Friday, September 5, 2025. Candidates nominated will be on the ballot in November 2025 and elected candidates will take office July 1, 2026.

Professional recognition encourages excellence and instills professional pride. Our applicants are committed to upholding the quality and professionalism associated with GSCA. These awards honor the professionals who devote their careers to serving as advocates for the nation’s students. Deadline is August 22, 2025.

Join the Movement for Positive School Climate in Georgia!

Educators, behavioral health providers, community leaders—you’re invited to GECC’s regional meeting in Macon on July 30 to explore new data, share best practices, and strengthen partnerships that support safe, inclusive learning environments for Georgia’s children.

This quarterly convening of GECC (Georgia Education Climate Coalition) — Supporting School Climate & Child Well-Being in Middle Georgia — will include a panel discussion with local and state experts sharing data and solutions, updates on positive behavioral interventions and mental health supports, networking opportunities, and a pre-meeting reception and youth-art exhibit featuring See Me.
