We’d like to introduce Kate Snead, PharmD, Assistant Director of Operations at Guardian Pharmacy of Atlanta. Over the past nine years, Kate has grown from intern to leader—mentoring teams, refining processes, and championing professional development. A graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), she brings a strong clinical foundation to her people-first approach to operations.

In her role, Kate helps steer operations by aligning people, processes, and technology. She partners closely with clinical, account management, fulfillment, and delivery teams to ensure communities experience consistent, reliable pharmacy service.

Kate says the people side of the work motivates her the most: coaching colleagues, connecting teams, and turning day-to-day problem-solving into measurable gains. “What drives me is knowing that the strategies I help implement strengthen our teams and lead to better outcomes for our patients,” she says. “When our pharmacy teams thrive, residents and communities feel the difference.”

Kate’s outlook is rooted in adaptability and continuous improvement. As community needs evolve, she leads with curiosity and collaboration—listening, learning, and supporting others so the whole team moves forward together.

Her advice for future pharmacists and operations leaders: Set daily goals. Communicate clear expectations. Be confident enough to step up. Stay humble enough to keep improving.

Meet Susan Reed, PharmD, BCGP, Senior Consultant Pharmacist at Guardian Pharmacy of the Heartland. With nearly two decades of long-term care pharmacy experience, Susan brings deep clinical expertise and a passion for resident care to her role.

Since joining Guardian over five years ago, Susan has continued doing what she loves most: partnering with care teams to improve quality of life for residents. Three years ago, she stepped into a leadership role, guiding a team of consultant pharmacists known for their compassion, collaboration, and dedication to clinical excellence.

As a consultant pharmacist, Susan provides individualized medication reviews with a focus on resident safety, quality of life, and measurable outcomes. She partners directly with providers and community care teams to improve medication adherence, reduce hospitalizations, and minimize risks like falls, polypharmacy, and other preventable adverse drug events.

“I feel incredibly lucky to lead a team that is so supportive and caring,” Susan says. “We learn from each other every day, and that shared dedication makes a big difference in the care we provide.”

A graduate of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and a board-certified geriatric pharmacist, Susan is driven by the opportunity to help residents meet their health goals through medication optimization. As a Nurse Consultant and Account Manager with Guardian Pharmacy Mid-South in Memphis, Tennessee, Gayle Lee bridges the gap between pharmacy operations and resident care. With decades of experience in geriatrics, Gayle brings a nurse’s perspective to every interaction—whether she’s conducting regulatory reviews, training staff, or supporting daily medication operations in skilled nursing and assisted living communities.

Each community served by Guardian is paired with a dedicated account manager like Gayle—often a nurse—who provides routine, on-site support and personalized service. From addressing urgent issues to delivering proactive business reviews, Gayle’s role is hands-on, collaborative, and focused on outcomes.
