Meet Nicole Barnett, Pharm.D., Consultant Pharmacist and Clinical Support. Since joining Guardian in 2019, Nicole has combined onsite clinical consulting with enterprise-level support, serving communities across Minnesota while also contributing to the corporate clinical team in Atlanta.
With a Doctor of Pharmacy and B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from North Dakota State University, and a B.S. in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences from Minnesota State University, Nicole brings both clinical depth and a strong communication background to her work.
Before transitioning to long-term care consulting, Nicole spent five years as a pharmacist-in-charge in community retail pharmacy. She says, “I sought out this change to clinical consulting due to the focus on patient care.”
In her consulting role, Nicole partners with providers and care teams to optimize medication regimens, reduce polypharmacy and adverse drug events, and promote safe, cost-effective treatment plans. Her clinical oversight leads to measurable improvements for residents and communities, including fewer hospitalizations, better clinical outcomes, and lower overall costs of care. Through her corporate work, she supports Guardian’s consultant pharmacists and clinical staff with educational initiatives and practical clinical resources, helping implement best practices across the organization.
“I love getting to know the community’s staff and truly feel like a valued and trusted member of their team,” Nicole says. “I feel I have finally found my place in the field of pharmacy with Guardian, making a difference providing age-friendly care.”
Her advice to future pharmacists: find the area that ignites your passion. It’s the surest path to meaningful impact and a rewarding career.
