Georgia Medicaid Reimbursement Update

After more than three years of advocacy by the Georgia Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (GAND), Georgia legislators have approved funding to expand Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) coverage to adult Medicaid beneficiaries. The budget now moves to the Governor for final approval.

Georgia Medicaid already covers medically necessary MNT services for children, and with this new funding, coverage is expected to expand to include adults as well—a major step forward for access to nutrition care across the state.

GAND will share additional details about the dietitian enrollment process and billing guidance for adult services as they become available. Implementation is currently anticipated for late summer, pending final approval and agency rollout.

Thank you to everyone who supported advocacy efforts that helped make this possible—this is an important milestone for patients and dietitians across Georgia.
