His medical degree was granted with honors from university of autonoma de Guadalajara. After doctor Marmer received his internship at Houston Tx he practiced family medicine in san Diego, CA. Upon completion of his residency program at mato clic, doctor Marmer spent time as a professor of ophthalmology lecturing to students t ahmadubelllo university in Kaduna and Zaria, Nigeria, west Africa. in 19

Doctor Marmer prides himself on being at the leading edge of technology. he faithfully followed the progress of the refractive surgery technique that was changing the lives of millions of nearsighted people. Doctor Marmer was among the first of US physicals to travel to Russia to learn about the procedure from the world renowned surgeon, who instrumental in perfecting rk, doctor svyatolslav fyodorov. doctor Marmer was the first surgeon to introduce and perform radial keratotomy surgery in Georgia. since his first rk surgery in 1979 doctor Marmer has performed over 25,000 cases including LASIK and PRK and has been referred to as a "specialist in refractive surgery". he is one of the first ophthalmology in the us trained to perform hyperopic thermal keratplasty for farsightedness, giving him the surgical tool to potentially elimate the need for glasses or contact lens for virtually every refractive disorder. Doctor Marmer was selected as the ophthalmology for the world wide 1996 Olympics and 2001 maccabbee games both held in Atlanta. he currently holds appointed positions of the editorial board and is a scientific reviewer for several ophthalmic medical journals. He continues to engage in clinic research to help benefit his patients and others around the world.
