The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed budgets, tracking expenditures, and generating financial reports. The position will be cross-trained in other bookkeeping functions including cash disbursements and receipts.

To protect your health when temperatures are high, remember to stay cool, stay hydrated and stay informed.

STAY COOL: Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. Stay in an air-conditioned place.

STAY HYDRATED: Drink plenty of water even before you are thirsty. Don’t wait until you are already thirsty. Avoid sugary or alcoholic beverages which can cause you to lose even more body fluid.

STAY INFORMED: Prepare for extreme heat ahead of time by keeping an eye on local weather forecasts.

Check on each other at least twice a day while working in extreme heat. Heat-related illness can cause confusion or loss of consciousness.

Bites from mosquitoes and ticks can make you sick. These pests can spread germs that cause diseases like West Nile and Lyme disease. You can "fight the bite" and protect yourself by:

1. Using an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellent (https://www.epa.gov/insect-repellents). When used as directed, these repellents are proven safe and effective, even for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

2. Wearing loose-fitting, long clothing.

3. Treating clothing and gear with 0.5% permethrin.

Make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine vaccines.

Check CDC’s webpage for your destination (https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list) to see what vaccines or medicines you may need and what diseases or health risks are a concern at your destination.

Make an appointment with your healthcare provider or a travel health specialist that takes place at least one month before you leave.

The Barrow County WIC program will host a Farmers Market at the Barrow County Health Department (15 Porter St E, Winder) on Monday, July 21 from 9 am-3 pm (or until the produce is gone). WIC clients can obtain $30 worth of fresh produce at no cost (limited to $30 per FAMILY/HOUSEHOLD per season).

Remember to bring your WIC ID card. Please complete the required farmers market education module BEFORE coming to the market: https://www.gawiconline.org/

Under general supervision, plans and conducts service or nutritional programs to promote family health and control of obesity. Provides health education, nutritional assessment, breastfeeding education and counseling to individuals, groups, or the public consistent with United States Department of Agriculture WIC Program policies and procedures. Serves as a resource for referral to family planning and immunization as well as other appropriate Health Department and community programs and services.
