We've managed so many client moves in the last few months we've lost count, but one thing we can count on is this group of guys at who have helped us through many tricky relocations. If you are gathering quotes for an upcoming move, don't be shy about asking for details about how the company works and the projected costs. What kind of training does the team get? What type of insurance do they have? Do they do background checks on those they hire? Are they employees or subcontractors? Do they own their own trucks or rent one for the job? Will they bring protective covering for the floors and walls? Do they move and also pack? If so, how are the materials priced? Do they do disassembly and reassembly of beds, tables...trampolines? Do they do de-install and re-install of TVs? Do they provide crates for art and light fixtures? How much an hour per person? Do they charge when the team breaks for lunch? Is there a transport fee for the truck from the warehouse to the move site? Do they have a storage facility and if so, what type of security is there, how & when can you access it, is it multi-levels, is it pods, vaults, units, or open warehouse space? Will you have a designated pick up and drop off date or a window of time? Will your things be transferred from one truck to another at any point? What about a shuttle if the moving truck is too big to get to your house, what are those costs, and when will you know if that's required? Will the same team members be there every day? If the price is by weight, can you see record of the weight of the empty truck and the weight of it with your things loaded? What items will they not transport? How long have they been in business? What is the phone number for the driver / lead? What number do you use to contact the company rep if your move is after hours and there are questions or issues? What is their claims process like? Is there a processing fee to pay by credit card? Will they haul away packing debris and if so, is that an added charge?

Get your questions answered and have things clear in writing. Moving is tough enough. Know before you go.

We've found a lot of things on moves over the course of 20 years, but this week was the first time finding a runaway dog. Sweet girl was returned home...after snagging a slice of the movers' pizza (which here she's licking the last of). Was a nice way to meet the neighbors & let them know their pup will soon have two new four-legged friends to play with!

"All the Junkluggers were super pleasant and efficient. Thank you SO MUCH for lining them up!" The client had been wanting to empty her storage unit for years, she was tired of paying for it, but felt "stuck." She called at 5:30pm. At 9:30am the next day, Nancy met her at the storage unit with movers she set up, managed the move crew as they emptied the unit, and while there strategized with her and made calls about mattress disposal, bulk trash removal, what to do with the rest. Then Nancy confirmed with the storage facility's front office all account closing requirements had been met and headed to her home with the movers following. She cleared space in her garage and in a spare room for the items brought, and while doing so helped her make decisions on what to keep at the house, donate, discard, save for a family member, or try to sell, then managed the movers as they helped her move things based on those categories.

While there, Nancy took photos of items the client wanted to try to sell and circulated the photos to a long list of resellers she knows and lined up an in-person look. Then she had her friends at Junkluggers come out the next day and haul off everything destined for donation and disposal, and confirmed that the client received a donation receipt.

Thank you, Junkluggers, for helping, and being so nice and professional while doing so! The client is now down a storage unit and up a garage bay!

We get asked what to do with trophies & other awards. Our answer is we can't tell you, but we can talk to you and help you come to comfortable and certain decisions about what you want to do with them. Some will mean more than others. Like these awards earned by my mother, Kathy. She was a constant, positive force supporting my brother, me, her students, and those she volunteered with earn their own awards and be the best they wanted to be. She rarely, if ever, spoke of her own achievements. Often my brother and I didn't even know about them until someone else told us, back then having seen it in the newspaper. I found a whole stack that I've never before seen in the bottom of a dusty box in the storage room. She was so incredible and so humble.

Speechless when our long time client told us this. Grateful for the opportunity to help these fantastic people. A couple of years ago, we started working with them in their home office. They reported a tremendous increase in focus and productivity as a result of our work together. Had us back to support them in reimagining and reworking the primary bedroom closet, kitchen, storage room, and more. We took things for alteration, donation, and resale and referred them to vendors for building and repairs. When it was decided the house would be sold, we served as a sounding board as difficult and vital decisions were made. We helped them find local and international movers, estate sellers, and cleaners. We worked closely with the realtor to stage the house, talk through repairs, and prep@ for showings. We provided guidance on sorting, packing, labeling, gathering insurance, and more as related to the move. We helped them adjust target dates and expectations when unplanned events occurred, as they happen to do with moves and property sales. Our hearts and minds (and muscles!) were fully devoted to supporting this incredible family - animal family members included! - and to know it had such a positive impact on their lives is beyond moving. It’s what it’s all about. This work is not about stuff. It’s about people. Wishing this family the best in all they continue to do on this wonderful planet. ❤️❤️❤️
