Georgia is about to be the center of America's political universe. Both of Georgia's 2020 Senate races are heading to runoff elections that will be held on January 5, 2021. Those two elections are likely to decide whether Republicans or Democrats end up in control of the U.S. Senate for the next two years.
Georgia residents who aren't registered to vote still have time. The deadline is December 7: https://georgia.gov/vote-2020-runoff-elections
In one of the runoffs, Rev. Raphael Warnock, a Baptist pastor and voting rights activist, faces off against incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who has made opposition to Black Lives Matter a central plank of her campaign. Loeffler is likely the wealthiest member of Congress, holding an estimated $800 million fortune with her husband, who is chair of the NY Stock Exchange.
In the other race, millennial Democrat Jon Ossoff, who has run on climate action, w**d legalization, and expanding health care, faces incumbent Republican Sen. David Perdue, a staunch ally of President Trump and the millionaire former CEO of Dollar General.
