Aveanna is proud to recognize National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month throughout September. This gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about the impact of these injuries and the ongoing advancements in research, treatment, and support. According to the United Spinal Association, a spinal cord injury refers to any damage to the spinal cord from trauma, disease, or a degenerative disorder. These injuries can affect motor, sensory, and autonomic function.

Throughout this month, we highlight the resilience and strength of those affected by these injuries, and we also emphasize the importance of fostering accessible environments and promoting inclusivity.

Aveanna is proud to show our support for Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month!

Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of diseases that causes progressive muscle weakness and a loss of muscle mass. There are several types of MD that affect specific muscle groups. Symptoms can begin in childhood or adulthood and also vary in severity. Currently, there is no cure for MD.

Aveanna is honored to show our support for individuals and families impacted by MD across the nation. Together, we can nurture empathy, kindness, and optimism for each individual touched by this disease.

Meet Vickie, one of our incredible respiratory therapists on our clinical education team! Vickie's journey in home health care began right in her own home, where she saw firsthand the power of private duty nursing through her child's care. The life-changing care her family received from their nurses inspired her to return to school for her respiratory therapy degree. Now, she educates nurses so they can benefit more families in need.
