Psychiatry word of the week = Mania
Mania is a medical symptom seen in bipolar disorder
It can look like:
• Little to no sleep but feeling energized
• Racing thoughts or nonstop talking
• Risky spending, impulsive decisions
• Feeling unusually confident or invincible
• Irritability when slowed down

Mania can feel powerful at first—but it often leads to crashes, consequences, and exhaustion.

📌 If this sounds familiar, a mental health professional can help.

Psychiatry Word of the Week: Trichotillomania

Trichotillomania is a mental health condition where a person feels repeated urges to pull out their hair—often from the scalp, eyebrows, or eyelashes.

It’s not about vanity or attention.
It’s about urges, relief, and distress.

Like many psychiatric conditions, shame keeps people silent—but treatment does help.
Let this awareness reduce the stigma.
