We had the honor recently of rolling out the red carpet for a very special patient: Rosie has been seeing our Oncology department since October 2023 and she has the special distinction of being a double graduate, AKA she has made it through two (!!) entire CHOP chemotherapy protocols! She has been an absolute champion thanks to all the love and support from her whole family, including her big brother Riku, who attends all of her appointments with her. Congratulations to the whole Spent family on this wonderful achievement from our favorite doggy warrior 🐶

Due to unforseen circumstances we will be operating with limited hours for this weekend only. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our patients and pet parents. Our hours of operation will be:
Fri 6/27- No ER after 7pm
Sat 6/28-CLOSED
Sun 6/29 9a-3pm
We will open Monday morning for regularly scheduled appointments and ER service. We look forward to serving you in the future.

It's World Kidney Day!

A day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of kidneys and reducing the impact of kidney disease in humans and pets alike! 🫘

- Did you know that 1 in 3 cats are likely to develop some form of kidney disease in their lives?
- By the time the main kidney values on bloodwork begin to show elevations, a shocking 75% of kidney function is already lost.

Thankfully, at Saint Francis we have an excellent team that's dedicated to educating clients and staff alike about kidney disease prevention, detection, and treatment. Some of our staff were lucky enough to attend a lecture by one of our Internal Medicine specialists, Dr. Scott Gibson! We are so thankful for his expertise and willingness to spread his knowledge. 🧠

If you're concerned about kidney disease in your pets, there's no one better than Dr. Gibson to care for your fur babies!

FEBRUARY DOCTOR SPOTLIGHT:

Say hello to Dr. Callahan, our newest doctor to join the Oncology team here at Saint Francis! Dr. Callahan is a board-certified oncologist, Georgia native, and certified cat person 🐱 (though of course he loves ALL animals).

He attended the University of Georgia for vet school and then completed his residency at the University of California, Davis in 2023. He then decided to return home to Georgia and joined our team in October 2024 - we have been so lucky to have his contagiously positive attitude and fountain of knowledge! His favorite part of Oncology is establishing meaningful relationships with his patients and their owners.

You can find him around the hospital Tuesday through Friday, passing out Pokémon cards, sporting an endless supply of funny socks, and lifting the spirits of pets and people alike. You can definitely count on your fur babies always being in good hands with Dr. Callahan! ❤️

Yesterday our Oncology team celebrated a special milestone with their adorable patient, Kenzie, as she graduated from her chemotherapy protocol! Congratulations to Kenzie and her wonderful family - bring on the pup cup! 🥳🎉
