To promote excellence in athletics through research, education, and training in the art and science of multisport endurance competitions. To enhance the overall strength of our community by actively engaging in community service by partnering with charitable programs. To enhance the mental, physical, and spiritual health and wellbeing of ourselves and our community through:
• Fellowship and social bonding within the organization;
• Training and fellowship with similar organizations both locally and nationally; and
• Active participation in endurance athletic competitions
Nomsa3 is not restricted or limited to triathletes but also includes athletes who participate in, or are interested in, competing in any endurance event including, duathlons, aquathlons, aquabikes, and adventure races. Our Motivation
In general Black people are severely under-represented in endurance athletics, e.g. running, cycling, etc. Moreover, our presence in multisport endurance competitions is minuscule. According to a 2009 demographic study by USA Triathlon African American participation in triathlon constitutes the lowest percentage of all groups at less than 0.5%. Nomsa3 was created not just to increase Black participation in multisport endurance athletics but also to serve as a resource for training and education in the multisport community. Most importantly Nomsa3 creates new opportunities for fellowship while simultaneously being a visible and vital contributor to the overall health of our community. Our Method
Nomsa3 has weekly structured group training workouts, with an emphasis on swim training and swim clinics. Additionally, monthly meetings will include member race reports, an educational presentation, and often a guest speaker with expertise in one or more aspects of multisport athletics (e.g. swimming, nutrition, training schedules, etc.).
