Transformation Tuesday | Thoughtful Facial Rejuvenation
This patient came to us seeking facial rejuvenation but was understandably hesitant about facelifting due to concerns around incision healing, particularly in the preauricular (in-front of the ear) region.
To address this, we performed a facelift using preauricular incision that extends into the temporal hair-bearing scalp, rather than a pretrichial (in front of the hairline) incision. This approach allows the incision to heal in a way that is far less perceptible once mature.
In patients with Afro-textured hair - characterized by tight coils, higher curvature, and dense structure - pretrichial incisions can be problematic. For this reason, we often favor a temporal incision, which better respects both hair pattern and healing biology.
Additionally:
- Images shown are approximately 6 months apart
- Kenalog injections were used preemptively during healing
- Incision placement and post-operative management were carefully tailored
When considering face lifting patients with deeper skin tones or East Asian lineage, incision planning and scar modulation require attention to achieve optimal, natural-looking results.
