1. Listen to Your Body First
• Stop or reduce aggravating activities — don’t try to “push through” pain.
• Pay attention to whether the pain is sudden and sharp (which could be injury-related) or gradual and achy (which might be muscular tension or posture-related).



2. Gentle Movement & Stretching
• Avoid prolonged bed rest — light walking or gentle stretching can keep circulation flowing.
• Focus on low-intensity mobility like knee-to-chest, pelvic tilts, or cat–cow stretches if they feel good.
• Keep movements slow and controlled — avoid bouncing or forcing a stretch.



3. Heat & Cold Therapy
• Ice within the first 24–48 hours if the pain is from a recent strain or inflammation.
• Moist heat for chronic tension or stiffness to increase blood flow and ease tight muscles.



4. Massage Therapy
• Target surrounding areas — glutes, hips, hamstrings, and core — as they all affect back function.
• Techniques I’ve used for decades:
• Myofascial release to reduce tightness.
• Trigger point therapy for specific knots.
• Gentle stretching & mobilization to restore range of motion.
• Avoid deep, aggressive work in the acute phase — it can worsen inflammation.



5. Posture & Ergonomics
• Adjust your workstation, chair, and sleeping position to support a neutral spine.
• Use a small pillow or rolled towel in the lower back for lumbar support.

I wrote and rewrote this post several times during this month. Honestly I’ve been so emotionally fearful of the comments behind the stigma of fibroids. Many think getting them removed is for the bases of child rearing but for so many of us it’s to relieve the pain faced month after month. As many of you know July is Fibroid Awareness Month 💜
And this year… it hits different.

9 weeks ago, I laid on an operating table to have fibroids removed through a open myomectomy—a surgery I never imagined I’d face, but one that changed everything.

I’ve felt the pain.
I’ve carried the weight.
I’ve smiled through fatigue and worked through discomfort—because that’s what so many of us do when living with fibroids.

But this month, I pause.
To honor my healing body.
To honor the women who are still searching for answers.
To speak out for those who are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or left to suffer in silence.

This journey reminded me that rest is so important, and healing is valuable.

💜To my husband,family and friends- thank you for every meal cooked or sent, for coming by and showing up for me,thank you for carrying me(literally),for every shoulder I cried on,for every phone call,prayer and genuine love.
💜 To my clients—thank you for your patience, prayers,meal sent,gift card purchase and flowers sent during this chapter.
💜 To the women navigating fibroids—you are not alone. Your pain is real. Your voice matters.
💜 To myself—I’m proud of you for choosing yourself.
