Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) is an innovative and minimally invasive procedure designed to treat achalasia, a condition characterized by impaired esophageal motility. During a POEM procedure, an endoscope is passed through the mouth and into the esophagus, allowing the surgeon to create a tunnel in the inner lining.
