In Georgia, it’s the law that if you have health insurance (public or private), you’re entitled to mental health coverage on par with physical health coverage. Insurance companies can no longer deny coverage for medically necessary behavioral health treatment. You can now seek help for you or your family without fear of being denied.

The group represents the voices of youth and young adults across the country and will be advising, creating and innovating how NAMI works with youth and young adults. Throughout the year, their thoughts, opinions, and feedback will help inform the work of NAMI programs, content, initiatives and new projects to meet young people where they are.

🎉Congratulations to my dear friend and colleague, Roland, on receiving the prestigious Red Mass Award! 🎉
Roland is one of the smartest and most passionate mental health advocates I know. His tireless work and deep expertise were instrumental in crafting the Georgia Parity Act, a landmark law ensuring that mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health by insurance companies.
When former Speaker David Ralston asked if HB1013 would meet the needs of advocates, it was Roland who confidently said YES—because he made sure it did. Thanks to his leadership, Georgia now has one of the strongest parity laws in the nation.
On behalf of NAMI and the people we serve: THANK YOU, Roland. Your dedication has made a lasting impact, and this recognition is so well deserved.

The Red Mass, a tradition dating back over 750 years, honors those who serve justice and the common good. In Atlanta, it has become a cherished annual event thanks to the St. Thomas More Society. This year, it shines even brighter with Roland among its honorees.

Let’s all celebrate Roland’s incredible achievement and continued commitment to mental health equity!
