History of Diabetes
This is one of my absolute favourite diabetes stories!!
Eva Saxl lived with T1D during World War Two. She and her husband managed to manufacture their own insulin. They kept Eva, as well as hundreds of other people with diabetes, alive during the war.
EDIT: For the sake of transparency, I'm editing the image on this post and explaining why:
There were two errors in the graphic. These were pointed out by commenters (thank you for the corrections!!) and I don't want to share incorrect information.
1. The book title was incorrect in the original image. I've corrected the title.
2. The image used for Eva Saxl, while it comes up quite a bit when I Google her name, seems to not be her. The new image is of Eva and Viktor. This happens sometimes with pictures of people in diabetes history (you should see the pictures of Leonard Thompson that come up when you Google him), but, it's still on me for not looking into it deeper.
Apologies for the errors, it's still an amazing story!! 💙
