When you think of great American cities, famous markets woven into each city’s way of life come to mind: Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market, San Francisco’s diverse Ferry Building Marketplace, Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and Washington, DC’s eclectic Eastern Market are examples of shopping, dining and cultural destinations so connected to living in their city as to be indispensable. The Beacon Atlanta is poised to add the capital of the South to that illustrious list.
The Beacon Atlanta, recognized by the AJC as a project reshaping Atlanta, is the next significant lifestyle destination along the Atlanta Beltline. Nestled along the Southside Beltline Trail. The district will be a respite for active Beltliners and a part of daily life for its Grant Park neighbors.
The Beacon Atlanta represents a $20 million revitalization of six old industrial warehouses into the cornerstones of a walkable, 9-acre district within blocks of Zoo Atlanta. Comprising 110,000 square feet, The Beacon Atlanta offers a mix of day and evening activities to create “a layered neighborhood experience.”
The first layer brings daily conveniences into the Grant Park neighborhood: Fitness, Child Care and Child Enrichment, Chiropractic and wellness center, hair and nail salons, a Market, Baked Goods, Theraputic Services and Massage.
The Beacon Atlanta offers a unique place to work: loft style office space, creative space for local artists, and artisanal food and beverage production facilities making delicacies like cold brew coffee, nut milk and fresh baked goods. Eateries will offer workers and visitors a variety of food and beverage choices once complete in late 2017.
In the evening, the experience expands, adding more culinary and cultural opportunities for those who come. Restaurants range from family-oriented eateries to destinations for the foodie crowd and music lovers alike. Artist studios during the day convert to storefronts where creatives connect with the public.
Most tenants are local businesses with successful locations elsewhere in the city, with several signed tenants having a global reach within their industry.
