Just 🌱2 WEEKS LEFT🌱 to grab a spot for this immersive and one-of-a-kind continuing education opportunity for yoga teachers…
Steady Ground: Trauma Informed Teaching and the Language of Belonging, weekend concentration on conscious and inclusive instruction for yoga teachers with Alison ‘Maha Devi,’ September 13 - 15
This comprehensive workshop and continuing education opportunity is designed to support yoga teachers in grounding their instruction in conscious communication, so that all students feel a sense of belonging. There are simple and accessible ways to shape our yoga classes into trauma sensitive spaces, and these tools can be applied to any style offering. Whether we are facilitating a gentle yoga class or a dynamic vinyasa flow, when we center our student’s power of choice as practitioners and affirm those choices, we create an environment that is spacious, welcoming and one where everyone feels included.
As facilitators and instructors, it is important for us to inspire connection and curiosity. We can do that by not assuming anything about our students, by encouraging them to prioritize their nervous systems, and by using language and practices that invite our students to orient their practice to themselves.
The weekend will include practical teaching tools, discussion, community building, lots of opportunity to integrate instruction skills, and PRACTICE.
Topics will include:
• Conscious communication & non-hierarchical language
• Dangers of Healthism, toxic positivity, gendered language
• Being a welcoming presence from start to finish in class
• Nervous system basics, trauma, and why these are important to consider in yoga spaces
• Yoga Philosophy
• How to include alignment-based cues and breath work in a mindful and sensitive way
• Co-regulating/Attuning to our students
• Staying in our lane & within our scope of practice - Boundaries
