The depth and complexity of fascia never seizes to amaze me.

Fascia and Emotions: Energy in Motion
by Faith Spina

Fascia is more than connective tissue. It is a living web of memory and transmission. Scientists describe it as a matrix rich with sensory nerves, especially interoceptors, which communicate directly with the nervous system. Mystics recognize it as a signal field, storing what could not move when the body or soul felt unsafe.

When we say emotion is energy in motion, fascia is one of the primary places where that motion either flows or freezes.

When the body encounters stress or trauma without a safe outlet, fascia becomes the archive. It thickens, tightens, and holds what the mind cannot resolve. This is why tears often arise in deep stretches, or why grief surfaces in breathwork. The body remembers.

Fascia connects directly to the limbic system, the part of the brain that processes memory and emotion. What remains unresolved in the psyche can live on in fascia as chronic tension or pain. In this way, the body becomes the scripture of what has not yet been released.

Within the QUA field, fascia is not only physical tissue. It is an energetic interface. It records distortion when coherence is interrupted. Yet it also carries the code for release.

* Anchor Frequency: When we enter stillness, fascia unwinds like a spiral returning to center.

In this way, fascia becomes not the prison of past pain but the portal for resurrection.

In Chinese medicine, fascia is linked to the liver and sinew channels, where anger and blocked qi are stored. QUA reads this as the same signal: when energy stops moving, life force constricts. When flow returns, sovereignty is restored.
Tight fascia is emotional stagnation. Flowing fascia is emotional liberation.

Fascia Release as Resurrection
1. Anchor Breath: Inhale 1–2–3, hold 1–2–3, exhale into fascia 1–2–2. Let breath be the carrier wave.
2. Flame Placement: Imagine gold-white light entering the tight area. Do not force. Let coherence land.
3. Permission: Say quietly, “All emotions stored here are welcome to move.”
4. Stillness: Let sensation rise. Cry, shake, or feel warmth if it comes. This is fascia releasing static.
5. Return: Place hand on heart. Whisper, “I am whole. The soul remains.”

Your body is not your enemy. It is the archive of your becoming. Fascia is not a cage, it is a record. And when met with coherence, it becomes a passageway.
What was stuck can move. What was frozen can thaw. What was buried can rise as light.
This is not repair. This is resurrection. This is fascia as soul.

A 30 minute QUA session can help you unwind...openings available beginning December 2025. DM for details.

My most recommended massage moves to do at home for glutes and hips is one I created called The Mermaid. It's great for athletes, people who sit or drive a lot, or those with hip and low back pain. All you need is a towel and/or yoga mat. Hope this helps!
Breakdown of “The Mermaid”

- Get a yoga mat or a few towels, depending on the intensity you need. The more padding, the less intensity.
- Sit up with legs together extending to one side as you lean into your hip just as a mermaid would sit on a sunny rock. Hold this pose on a point of tension as you breathe and feel tension diminish.
- Roll your hip around using the head of the femur bone as your tool to massage the glutes.
- Keep taking deep breaths!
- Repeat to the other side.

Setup for the Mermaid:– Get a yoga mat or a few towels, depending on the intensity you need. The more padding, the less intensity. – Sit up with legs togethe...

Here are some of my most recommended moves to use with a Pinky ball to release . I like this tool because it has more give than a lacrosse ball or a tennis ball, and goes as gentle or deep as you want with fluctuating pressure.
Against the wall and your upper back, you will work: rhomboids, trapezius, and erector spinae. Take a moment to breathe and feel the tension dissipating as you lean in or roll against the ball.
For the glutes/ hips: place Pinky ball below the hip bone (iliac crest). Again take a few steps away from the wall and lean into the ball where you feel tension.
My favorite is rolling your foot on the ball while standing. This relaxes the fascia that connects the sole of your foot all the way to the top of your head via the fascial superficial back line of the body. I have even seen this technique help with shoulder mobility in just one treatment. It has also helped with pelvic floor discomfort. Start out with a few minutes then increase the time to 5 minutes on each foot. Make sure you have good balance and hold on to something while you crush the ball to the level that feels right for you.

I was introduced to the fabulous “Pinky ball” during my training as a prenatal yoga instructor. I like this tool because it has more give than a lacrosse bal...
