Someone gave me their 8 year AA chip recently. I don’t think they understood how much the gesture meant to me. I’ve made it my life’s work to support people on their journeys of healing and recovery, so to have someone share such an accomplishment with me is the most amazing gift I could receive.

This is not to be confused with toxic positivity where one is expected to be positive, have a positive outlook, or disregard feelings or emotions, or downplay experiences at all times. We can acknowledge the feelings and emotions related to something negative while also finding the positive aspects and looking for a an enjoyable way forward.

It’s been a while, so I think it’s time for another introduction.

Hi, I’m Jennie. I’m a licensed mental health counselor and founder of Haines-Pruitt Counseling. I am on a continuous journey of psychological self-exploration and improvement. I love exchanging stories with people. We are fascinating creatures that have far more similarities than differences, yet everyone’s experience is unique and interesting.

My goal is to support others in their self-exploration and healing journeys by creating a judgement-free space that encourages taking chances, making mistakes, and reflecting on lessons learned.

My goal with social media is to share knowledge, encouragement, and support.

A reminder that unmet expectations lead to disappointment, and disappointment breeds resentment. Managing our expectations and communicating our wants and needs is important in every relationship and helps to prevent disappointment.
