FINAL UPDATE: We are pleased to share that gas service has been fully restored to the Howell Mill campus, and all buildings, including the William Breman Jewish Home, Balser Tower, and Zaban Tower, have resumed normal operations.

Following extensive testing and repairs by the gas company, it has been confirmed that the campus is safe, and residents have returned to their homes.

Throughout the day, our team remained focused on resident safety, comfort, and continuity of care.

We are grateful for your patience and trust during today’s events and extend our sincere thanks to our staff and first responders for their swift and professional response.

UPDATE: We have received the all-clear for all buildings on the Howell Mill campus, and residents are beginning to return to Balser Tower, Zaban Tower, and the William Breman Jewish Home.

The gas company has tested the air on every floor in each building following ventilation and has confirmed it is safe for reentry. Repairs are underway, and gas service is expected to be restored to the campus within the next few hours.

Our team remains on site and focused on the safe, orderly return of residents. We appreciate everyone’s patience and will continue to share updates as appropriate.

Earlier today, a garbage truck struck a main gas line on Jewish HomeLife’s Howell Mill Road campus. Out of an abundance of caution, the William Breman Jewish Home, Balser Tower, and Zaban Tower were evacuated. All residents were safely relocated to designated areas and remain secure. City of Atlanta Fire Rescue and the gas company are on site managing the situation, and Jewish HomeLife staff continue to focus on resident safety and care. Updates will be shared when available.

We’re honoring National Caregiver Month with a simple truth:
Behind every moment of care is someone who gives from the heart. 🧡

This November, we’re proud to launch Gratitude in Action, a month-long celebration of the people who make Jewish HomeLife so special.

Every day, our caregivers show up with kindness, patience, and love; whether it’s a nurse, a CNA, a volunteer, or a family member helping a loved one feel at home.

You are the reason Jewish HomeLife is more than a place to live or work. It’s a community built on compassion.

Thank you for giving so much of yourselves to others.
