Did you know? 💡

You can meet with a lactation consultant before your baby arrives. Yes, you read that right!

Something we highly recommend is a prenatal lactation visit. Thats right, before baby is even here! It’s one of the best ways to feel prepared and confident before baby arrives. Trust us, it can make your first weeks SO much easier!

Instead of feeding on zero sleep, we can help you plan ahead, so say goodbye to learning on the fly! Here’s what we can do, together:

- Review your health history & any possible challenges
- Answer all of your questions in a safe, private space
- Explore your goals, concerns and priorities for feeding
- Share proven ways to establish milk supply
- Discuss birth practices that affect feeding
- Involve your partner so they can support you

Our goal is to help you make a success plan, whether that’s talking through feeding challenges or exploring different pump options to find your best fit. Think of this as your personalized newborn prep for feeding. Not just sleeping, swaddling and diapering.

We have your back! Book your in-person or virtual appointment today!

You might hear “feed every 3 hours,” but for many breastfed babies, that’s too long to wait. In those early weeks, feeding often:

• Gives your baby the calories and nutrients they need to grow
• Helps them practice and improve their latch
• Supports your milk supply so it meets their needs

Tiny tummies don’t run on a timer, they run on hunger cues. They’ll rest between feeds, but frequent nursing is normal, healthy, and important for growth.

If breastfeeding feels challenging or painful, you’re not alone. Support is only a call, text, or appointment away and we’re here to help you and your baby thrive.

"Should I nurse my newborn from one breast or both?"

Offering both breasts at each feeding is usually best, especially before your milk supply is fully established.

Here’s why:
• It helps make sure baby is getting all the milk they need to grow
• It supports your body in making enough milk
• It keeps your supply balanced on both sides

Feeding from only one breast too soon (while pumping or catching milk from the other) can sometimes mean baby gets fewer calories and we’ve seen this lead to slower weight gain, fewer poops, and extra fussiness.

Once your supply is steady and baby is growing well, we can talk about whether single-side feeding works for your family.

Feed on one side → burp (if baby doesn't burp, that's okay) → offer the other.

We call this, dinner and dessert! Your supply will build naturally when baby leads the way.
