Federal employees, You deserve better than this!

Many of you are on edge for good reason. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Feeling through the uncertainty about your future.

Anger, frustration and fear are justifiable emotions. Your brain and body’s reaction to these uncertain times could result in overreactivity, numbness or shut down responses aka: The fight, flight, or freeze response.

These are normal reactions to abnormal conditions.

Since the EO’s and RIF’s I’ve been thinking of ways to help and landed on offering a (private) support group for federal employees to share freely without judgement or reprisals.

Confidentiality is my first priority and thus Registration is required. Only those that are eligible would be given a confidential link to join the group.

Please share this post with your federal employees, coworkers, or family members, because navigating turbulent tImes such as these requires as much support as possible in an environment that is non restrictive or punitive to allow the spaceousness to be vulnerable among people you trust.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR GROUP
For federal employees who want a customized support group addressing the specific needs of your fellow employees - I would be more than happy to customize something to meet your needs.

I believe it is our obligation to prioritize mind-body wellness especially in these polarizing times that threatens our livelihoods, sense of peace, freedom and overall well-being.

Let’s start by changing old tropes, stereotypes and self stigma that a person who needs help don’t have enough ‘faith’, or must be ‘weak-minded’ or ‘crazy’ individuals. I’m glad the stigma is finally fading but there’s still more work to do.

You see, in todays climate, we ALL could use an unbiased listening ear, someone to talk to, process thoughts with, learn new coping options and validate our feelings and humanity

It’s true - our spiritual community, family members and friends CAN be a source of support at times; but they are sometimes ill-equipped to handle problems or get overwhelmed - making you feel like a burden.

Frankly, most people we know are too close in proximity to the problem and can’t hold space objectively or non critically.

*****This is where therapy can help*****

We are an African American practice that offer options to people with insurance and for folks without insurance.

We can not serve everyone, and sometimes we have to turn folks away. However, we created a program that focuses on health equity headed up by our associate level and graduate level interns from NYU and Howard university for uninsured or under insured people.

Our equitable pricing structure includes a pay-what-you-can option for uninsured working people. Further, If eligible, our graduate interns provide probono options (limitation do apply) for mental health services.

Whether it’s for you, your family member or an employee,we are here to help our community survive and thrive over the next four years and beyond!

****Again, we can not serve everyone due to the complexity of some cases or unique situations that may require a different type of specialization. However we will try to accommodate you or refer out to another person or practice that can meet your needs.

I am happy to announce that STUDENTS WITHOUT MOTHERS, a non-profit organization in Atlanta, appointed me to their Advisory Board earlier this month.

I know what it’s like to go through college without a mother, and it is a great honor to sit on an advisory board whose mission aligns with my passion.

Students Without Mothers, Inc. (https://studentswithoutmothers.org/business/), is a non-profit organization based on Atlanta, GA that is dedicated to helping high school students without mothers help themselves by empowering them to continue their education. We have provided scholarships to more than 125+ students, offering financial assistance and invaluable support services such as life coaching, grief counseling, and essential supplies like laptop computers and dormitory necessities.

Here’s how you can help:

We need your help securing 7 event sponsors at $1500 each for the Chastain for Charity event on September 21, 2024.

Event sponsors receive a table for 8, table signage, logo inclusion on monitor or banner, inclusion in social media campaign promoting the event.

We have sold 7 tables so far with 25 remaining.

Tables are $500 and seats 8.

We also have lawn seats for $50

Here is a link to the website for more details.
