A little about me:
I’m Laura! I’m a single mother to my wonderful 7 month old daughter, Maya. She is nothing short of heavenly and I’ll definitely be sharing photos of her with you all. All my life, I wanted motherhood SO badly. After having an ovarian torsion surgery in 2015, I feared I may not be able to conceive but 2 little pink lines 6 years later melted all that longing away and I knew she was here to stay. I used a doula throughout my pregnancy and birth because I did not have a supportive partner and it changed my experience for the better. I relied on her for the anxieties that popped into my mind as I didn’t have somebody to roll over and ask for reassurance from in the middle of the night if I felt a new pregnancy sensation. I shared exciting news from sonograms and appointments along the way. I still continue to share photos of my baby with her. And THAT is why my services also offer 24/7 on call care via phone. My goal for Doe and Fawn is not just to offer support for the physical aspect, but for the emotionality that lives within pregnancy whether we are single or partnered. Pregnancy was the most vulnerable I’ve ever been, but also the most empowered as a woman. I struggled with postpartum anxiety and attended support groups at Monmouth Medical’s PMAD Center. I offer lactation services as well- I am still currently breastfeeding so all of my knowledge is fresh.
Mostly, I obtained my certification and started this business because I believe in the divinity of women and childbearing. The connection between mom and baby is likened to that of my own to my higher power and I hope that I can nourish my work with that in mind. Motherhood is a beautiful ride and it’s important to me to personalize each client’s experience according to what it means to them. Whether you need a listening ear, meditation techniques, acupressure, light massage or simply advocacy to help making your birth plan go as smooth as possible- I’m here to listen and ready to work with you.
