Meet Your Instructor: Melissa Festa

With a passion for movement that started on the elementary school playground, Melissa has been a force in the fitness world for over a decade. She began her professional teaching journey in 2013 powering through her first pregnancy on the bike and hasn’t slowed down since. For Melissa, fitness isn't just a career; it’s a lifelong legacy. From her days as a high school athlete to her current life as a "fitness mom" cheering on her three children in competitive football, karate, and dance, she lives and breathes an active lifestyle.

There are still 2 more opportunities to join us for the remaining spring Tai Chi Easy™ Workshops on the following Saturdays from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, open to all fitness levels.

Tai Chi Easy™ is a simplified, accessible form of Tai Chi developed by Dr. Roger Jahnke, O.M.D. It blends gentle Tai Chi and Qigong movements to support balance, mobility, stress reduction, and overall well-being—without the need to learn complex forms. This practice is ideal for beginners and for those managing chronic pain or health conditions.

The workshop will be led by Catherine Irons, M.S.Ed., a certified Tai Chi Easy Practice Leader with over 35 years of teaching experience. Catherine currently leads Tai Chi Easy classes for the Robert Wood Johnson–Barnabas Health Oncology Support Program at Monmouth Medical Center and the Atlantic Highlands Senior Center.

Workshop Details
• Time: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM
• Cost: Members $15 | Non-members $20
• Notes: Wear comfortable footwear; participants should be able to stand for approximately 45 minutes.

The wait is over—the Summer Ready Challenge is officially here, and this is your last chance to jump in before we get started!

If you’ve been thinking about it, now is the time to commit. We’ve finalized all the details, and everything is in place for an incredible six-week transformation experience designed to help you feel stronger, leaner, and more confident heading into summer.

This year’s challenge is all about individual results—no teams, no partners—just you, your goals, and the support you need to succeed. Every participant will be paired with a coach, using proven tracking tools to keep you accountable and progressing week after week.

Key Dates to Know:
• Challenge start date: Monday, April 13
• Final weigh-ins: Sunday, May 24 (just before Memorial Day!)

Group Fitness Instructor Spotlight

Meet Kristine Venneman

If you want a sweaty workout that’s also smart and slightly sneaky, I’m your person.

I currently teach Pilates (Thursdays at 9:30) Spin (Mondays at 8:30), and Cardio Sculpt (Thursdays at 8:30). EPH&F has been my favorite place to teach for decades! I love teaching mixed-level classes because it proves something important: everyone can thrive in the same room. I offer options for advanced athletes, beginners, and anyone navigating injuries or limitations. You get to choose your own adventure.

I have a degree in Exercise Physiology and another in Education as I am also a math teacher. Don't worry! While, there is always science happening here, I'm doing the math for you. In fact, I'm sure you will feel like I'm all about the variety of music and exercises but there IS more to the magic.

You’ll get the obvious wins: strength, cardio, flexibility. What you might not notice (until you suddenly feel better in your body) is that I’m also layering in joint mobility, balance, coordination, proprioception, and nervous system regulation. We’re training muscles AND how your body moves and recovers.

Music is my creative love language. Workout playlists are just part of the energetic and playful vibes here. We work hard and never take ourselves too seriously. Come enjoy the challenging workout with an encouraging tribe, and you’ll leave stronger, steadier, and looking forward to the next time.

Refresh Your Routine This Spring with New Changes to Our Group Fitness Schedule!

We’re excited to bring a fresh update to our group fitness schedule—designed to give you even more variety, energy, and results!

Starting this month, we’re introducing Body Sculpt and Zumba to replace the previous Total Body Strength and 30-minute Core formats—same great time slots, same motivating instructor, Kelley!

Body Sculpt is a low-impact but highly effective workout that uses bands, weights, and stability equipment to build muscular endurance and tone from head to toe. It’s easy to follow, welcoming for all levels, and a fantastic way to strengthen and sculpt your body.

Looking to add some fun to your fitness? Zumba brings the party! With upbeat music and easy-to-follow dance moves, it’s a high-energy workout that doesn’t feel like work—just movement, music, and a great time.

These updates are part of our continued effort to keep our group fitness schedule dynamic, balanced, and engaging for everyone. From strength and cardio to yoga, spin, and HIIT, we offer something for every goal, every level, and every mood.
