Tai Chi Easy™ Workshop: Calm, Balance & Strength

Join us for a Tai Chi Easy™ Workshop on Monday, January 12th, from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, open to all fitness levels.

Tai Chi Easy™ is a simplified, accessible form of Tai Chi developed by Dr. Roger Jahnke, O.M.D. It blends gentle Tai Chi and Qigong movements to support balance, mobility, stress reduction, and overall well-being—without the need to learn complex forms. This practice is ideal for beginners and for those managing chronic pain or health conditions.

The workshop will be led by Catherine Irons, M.S.Ed., a certified Tai Chi Easy Practice Leader with over 35 years of teaching experience. Catherine currently leads Tai Chi Easy classes for the Robert Wood Johnson–Barnabas Health Oncology Support Program at Monmouth Medical Center and the Atlantic Highlands Senior Center.

Workshop Details
• Date: Monday, January 12
• Time: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM
• Cost: Members $15 | Non-members $20
• Notes: Wear comfortable footwear; participants should be able to stand for approximately 45 minutes.

How Jen Changes Things Up and Wins First Place!

Jen Johnson, winner of the women's Memorial Day Melt-Away Challenge, has been a member with Eastpointe since 2015. After Covid, she decided that she needed a new outlook on her workout routine and that she needed to change things up! She had always done lots of cardio and it just wasn't working for her anymore. And because of her limited experience with weight training, she avoided it. That's what drove her to join the challenge. Jen knew she needed a lot of guidance when navigating this new field and she felt she would get that at the All-Inclusive level of our challenge.

Jennifer feels like she succeeded because of the trainers holding her accountable, as well as the ongoing follow up and helpful, knowledgeable staff. Having access to Katy, our nutritionist, was a key factor in providing her with the tools she needed to be successful in her overall weight loss goal. Jen dropped over 22% of her body fat in just 6 weeks, winning her a 1st place spot in the female category! She plans to continue her success with our Shore Results Essentials program going forward to keep herself on track. Congratulations Jen!

Fran Nicholes has been part of the Eastpointe Health & Fitness family since 2011—and her journey is a powerful reminder that true transformation starts with mindset.

“I started my journey with Eastpointe Health & Fitness in 2011 and I have never looked back,” Fran shares. “This place has given me the support and personalized approach to ensure my success. By focusing on both my mind and body, I have become stronger physically and completely changed the way I think about health.”

Although Fran has always considered herself a “gym person,” she explains that Eastpointe has been a completely different experience. Like many members, life and work sometimes pulled her elsewhere—including upscale gyms offered through corporate memberships—but she always found her way back.
“I could never find the same fit anywhere else,” she says. “At other gyms, you feel like a number. Staff turnover is constant, and it’s hard to build real relationships. At Eastpointe, the consistency and support—from the front desk to the trainers to the nutrition team—make you feel like family. That makes all the difference.”

Over time, Fran’s focus shifted away from the scale and toward overall well-being. “It’s not about losing weight—it’s about feeling good and being healthy,” she explains. “Eastpointe offers the full package. The programs truly support your mind and body, and that’s what creates lasting change.”
At 67 years old, Fran is still very much on her journey. She is still reaching for her goal, but more importantly, she’s committed to the process.
“This is a lifestyle,” Fran says. “I come in three times a week and put it on my calendar like an appointment with myself. That’s how you make it happen.”
Her message to others—especially those who may feel intimidated or think it’s “too late”—is simple and inspiring: “Age is just a number. I don’t give up. Other people my age can do this. You just need to be in a supportive, encouraging environment—and that’s Eastpointe.”

We are currently looking for a hardworking, responsible, outgoing person for a
part-time Front Desk position (16-30 hrs./wk.) Pay-rate: $16-$20/hour.

Weekday Evenings & Weekend Afternoons Shifts Only
Ability to cover other shifts as needed is a plus

• Job Responsibilities include cleaning, greeting members, making shakes, answering calls, and closing the club
