It’s not ā€œI worked through it once and now it’s gone forever.ā€
It’s layers. Seasons. Integration.

You might revisit the same wound years later — but this time with more awareness, more tools, more strength. That’s not regression. That’s growth.

At Healthy Minds Consulting, we often remind clients:
If something resurfaces, it doesn’t mean therapy didn’t work.
It means your nervous system feels safe enough to go deeper.

You’re not back at the beginning.
You’re meeting it from a new place.

Healing is cyclical, not linear.
And revisiting a wound isn’t failure — it’s integration.

Just know. šŸ’›

Okay but WHY is it like this though šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

You’re in the middle of spiraling…
Heart racing.
Overthinking your entire existence since 2007.
Ready to send the text.
Ready to quit the job.
Ready to flip a table.

And then your therapist’s voice pops up like:

✨ ā€œHave you tried your breathing?ā€ ✨

And you’re like…
Ma’am.
Respectfully.
No amount of ✨inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 6✨ is fixing THIS.

But then…

You try it.
Against your will.
With attitude.

And suddenly your nervous system is like:
ā€œOh. We’re safe?
Cool cool cool.ā€

And now you’re calm.
Regulated.
Not sending the unhinged paragraph.
Not burning your life down.

And you just sit there mad because…

THE STUPID BREATHING WORKED. šŸ˜©šŸ˜‚

Why is oxygen so powerful.

Honored to Serve Those Who Serve Survivors šŸ•Šļø

Leilani Mason was deeply honored to speak at the Restoring Power Forum hosted by Emerald Coast Victim Services.

It was a privilege to educate and engage with an incredible group of nurses, clinicians, case workers, and advocates serving survivors of sexual assault. Together, we explored the Window of Tolerance — understanding how trauma impacts the nervous system and how we can better support healing through regulation, safety, and empowerment.

When we help professionals understand the nervous system, we strengthen the care survivors receive every single day.

Thank you to Emerald Coast Victim Services for the meaningful work you do and for creating space for conversations that truly matter. šŸ’™

Healing happens in safe, informed, compassionate spaces — and it starts with education.

People with Bipolar Disorder often experience what could be called Emotional Intensity Dysregulation. It’s not just mood swings it’s a neurological condition that can amplify emotional responses far beyond what others might expect...

A small disappointment can feel like devastation. A neutral comment might spiral into shame or rage. A moment of joy can swell into euphoria that feels unstoppable. The brain’s ability to regulate emotional highs and lows is disrupted not because of weakness, but because of wiring...

It’s not being ā€œtoo much.ā€ It’s not being unstable on purpose. It’s not a failure of willpower or maturity.
It’s neurological. It’s real and it’s not your fault...

Living with bipolar means navigating a world where your emotions don’t always match the moment but that doesn’t make them any less valid. It means learning to ride waves that others can’t see, and still showing up with courage...

It’s not a character flaw.
It’s a different kind of emotional truth.

We’re here to educate and support you.

Healthy Minds lead to Healthy Lives

My name is Leilani Mason and I am an individual and family therapist located in Atmore Alabama. I am licensed in Al # 1368-3629C and Florida # SW11535. I have been blessed with the ability to help people find solutions to their problems. I specialize in working with teenagers and adults struggling with self- esteem issues, depression, anxiety, loss of hope, communication, anger management, phase of life issues and grief & loss.

I am also a trained Gottman Therapist specializing in helping couples apply clinically proven methods to manage painful conflict and restore friendship, romance and passion to their relationship. Scientifically proven methods help couples learn healthier ways to manage conflict, communicate, express feelings, find compromise and build a rich and rewarding friendship that fuels passion and romance.

I love working with couples and individuals. I work best with people who desire real progress and evolution in their lives and relationships. I am a solution focused therapist meaning I believe that we all possess strengths and resources that can be used to attain personal growth and overcome life's challenges. My job is not to judge but to build a level of trust, provide support, insight, and encourage my clients to feel safe sharing their concerns while helping them to find a solution to their problems. Just looking into counseling demonstrates a desire for change and is the first step towards living the life you were meant to live.
