Perfectionism doesn’t always look like wanting straight A’s. Sometimes it looks like waiting: waiting to start, waiting to feel confident, waiting until it feels “right.”

As a school counselor, I see how often perfectionistic thinking quietly holds students back from learning, growing, and taking healthy risks. Not because they don’t care, but because they care so much.

These reminders are ones I share when kids are stuck in the loop of polishing instead of practicing. They help reframe mistakes as information, progress as success, and effort as enough. 💛

And here’s an important piece for us adults: Perfectionism is often reinforced unintentionally through the way we praise, correct, reassure, or respond to mistakes.

That’s why I created a free guide called
“10 ways adults might be reinforcing perfectionism and what to do instead.”

It’s designed for school counselors, educators, and caregivers who want to support growth without increasing pressure.

💬 Comment “guide” and I’ll send it to you!

Because kids don’t need perfect conditions to grow. They need permission to try. 💛
