Don't blame aging for all the abilities you've lost.
Aging does change the body, as we get older we lose muscle mass, power and most importantly, balance. We react a lot slower. We recover from exercise and injury a lot slower.
Actually, its not aging so much as actual disuse.
When muscles aren't challenged they weaken. When balance isn't practiced, the nervous system becomes less confident. When we don't move out joints through full range, stiffness increases and so does pain.
This is why strength training and balance training are important.
Some folks let aging limit them. It's not the aging, it's the fear of injury and pain. Slowly over time, fear shrinks our daily movement and the body suffers.
What you practice, you can preserve. What you quit doing, you lose, faster than you might realize.
Chiropractic adjustments can help your joints get moving again. Adjustments can help you avoid painful movements and make it easier to complete different physical activities which will be beneficial to the health of your whole body.
If you have questions, or know of someone who you think might benefit from chiropractic, give me a call at the office and I will be glad to talk with you.
Have a good day!

Most people start the new year off with resolutions to exercise more and eat better to lose weight.
These are all good goals but how about starting your year off right by attending to that crick in your neck or that constant low back or shoulder pain by getting an evaluation and chiropractic adjustment.
Then, moving on to your new exercise program might not be so painful or uncomfortable. Once the body is in alignment, joints move and respond better to your desired exercise.
If you or someone you know is in this situation, give me a call at the office!

Happy New Year!

Muscle aging and muscle loss due to aging is called sacopenia. It results in frailty, risks of falls, and shortens out healthspan and potentially our lifespan. We can mitigate our risk! How? With resistance training. Not just walking or using an elliptical. You need to stress the muscles.
Aerobic exercise strengthens the heart, helps with blood pressure, your brain and insulin resistance.
However, resistance exercises are critical to minimize age related muscle loss. Something as simple as squats, walking up and down stairs, push ups, getting up out of a chair are examples of resistance exercises which don't require any gym membership or special equipment.
We also start to our lose balance in our 50's. If you want to minimize your risk of falls as an elder, start training balance now. Balance exercises can be as simple as standing on one leg for several seconds, then switching to the other leg.
Isn't it time that you make a change before it gets too late. Simple exercises will help you in the long run.
Happy New Year Everyone!

Don't tell yourself you're too old. Don't hide behind fear.
Even small, consistent actions like short walk, resistance bands or even gentle stretching can add years to your life and life to your years.
The ones who move don't just stay active, they thrive.
They bend without pain, climb stairs without struggling and maintain the freedom to enjoy things that matter.
Discomfort is your teacher.
It's a signal that your body is adapting.
Avoid it and the risks of frailty, disease and dependence increase. Embrace it and your buy freedom.
It is never too late to start.
Begin today and move intentionally.
Choose effort over ease.
You will thank yourself in the future.

Most people think that their pain comes from doing too much.
The truth is, it can also come from doing too little.
Too little movement, too little growth, too little courage to take the next step.
You body can ache not just from exhaustion but from stagnation. You mine can spiral not just from the physical effort but also from being idle too long.
You're not tired, you "under-challenged."
Move more!
Try and fail at something new.
Learn...
and sweat!
Do something that reminds you your're alive, because comfort zones may feel safe, but they are slowly stealing the fire that makes life worth living!
I'm not saying run marathons or spend two hours in a gym.
Spend 10 minutes in the morning and evening doing some simple stretching of all the joints.
Go for a 20 min walk (weather permitting) every day.
Pick up something a little heavier than you are used to and carry it around the house for a few minutes.
Take your daily activity to another higher level. Push those joints a little more.
Your body with be glad you did!

I’m back in the office regular hours this week. Get in for that regular adjustment!

I have 4 rules for my life and I want to share them with you. I try to follow these everyday.

#1 MOVEMENT: Keep your body moving. I’m not talking just about your back. Move all your joints: shoulders, knees, hips, elbows etc etc. Pick new activities to get your body moving in all directions.
#2 MIND SET: Stay positive in all you think, do and say! Accept challenges and keep going going forward!
#3 RECOVERY: This means eat right, get plenty of rest and have some fun once in a while! 🤩
#4 ALIGNMENT: Just like our cars/trucks, our bodies need regular maintenance and chiropractic adjustments are just one of the things that will keep our bodies in great shape as we age.
