🦷 How Coffee Affects Your Teeth
1. Stains Enamel - the ultimate coffee lover's nemesis! Coffee contains tannins, which cause pigments to stick to enamel. Over time, this leads to yellow or brown discoloration, especially if you drink multiple cups a day. Because, let's be real, one cup is never enough.
2. Bad Breath (Halitosis) - a.k.a. coffee breath. Coffee's strong compounds stick to the tongue and cheeks. Combined with reduced saliva, this can cause persistent "coffee breath". Not exactly the freshest way to start your day.
😁 Tips to Protect Your Teeth
Rinse with water after drinking coffee to wash away acids and pigments. Don't be lazy, it's worth the extra few seconds!
Wait 30 minutes before brushing - brushing too soon can erode softened enamel. Patience is a virtue, folks!
Drink through a straw to limit contact with teeth. Because who doesn't love drinking coffee like a kid?
Add milk - it raises the pH and provides calcium, reducing enamel damage. Milk does a body (and teeth) good!
Regular cleanings and whitening treatments can minimize stains. Stay on top of those dentist appointments, people!
