Does your child's school have a new phone policy starting this year? 📲 Many schools now ask students to keep phones away from classes. You might have concerns about not being able to reach your child or concerns about your child being too addicted to their phones. Here are some tips to follow!

"Most phones and devices have tools to help manage screen time. Through digital wellbeing, screen time or family pairing settings, you can set downtime or do-not-disturb options. Instead of seeing it as a restriction on your family's screen time, treat it as protecting activities that matter to you, where you want to be fully present. Remind your kids that tech companies don't need (or deserve) to have access to us every waking minute of the day!"

Is your baby ready for shoes? When babies are only able to stand or take a few steps, they're not ready for shoes just yet. Giving your shoes too early may make learning how to walk a little bit harder, because they limit the baby’s foot movement. 👶

Babies can start wearing shoes when they're walking. In the meantime, if your baby's feet are cold, you can give them socks.

If your child is premature (born before 37 weeks), you’ll want to track their milestones based on a corrected age, rather than their actual age. That means tracking them by the age they would be if they had been born on their due date. 👶

➡️ To find the corrected age for your baby, take their actual age and subtract the weeks preterm.

Has your child been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes? If so, managing their blood sugar and following a healthy lifestyle are key to managing this chronic condition. We recommend checking out this guide for tips on how to manage your child's glucose levels. 👇

"Glucose will build up in the blood if it cannot be used by the cells. High blood glucose levels can damage many parts of the body, such as the eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart.

Your child's blood glucose levels may need to be checked on a regular schedule to make sure the levels do not get too high. Your child's doctor will tell you what your child's blood glucose level should be.

You and your child will need to learn how to use a glucose meter. Blood glucose levels can be quickly and easily measured using a glucose meter. First, a lancet is used to prick the skin; then a drop of blood from your child's finger is placed on a test strip that is inserted into the meter."

Children with type 2 diabetes can live a healthy life. If your child has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, your child's doctor will talk with you about the importance of lifestyle and medication in keeping your child's blood glucose (blood sugar) levels under control.
