Flying with a baby can make any family nervous. But with the right planning and a few helpful tips, you can make traveling with your baby easier and smoother. Here are answers to common questions parents have about taking their baby on a flight and safety considerations to keep in mind. ✈️

"Ideally, you will want to wait until your baby is 2 to 3 months old to fly. However, it's generally safe to fly when your newborn is at least 7 days old. Keep in mind that air travel (and being in crowded airports) can increase a newborn baby's risk of catching something. Whenever possible, delay travel for a few weeks to protect your infant from colds, flu and other diseases."

You might have heard about "faltering weight" in children. This is when a child has a very low BMI for their age, is gaining weight very slowly, or their growth drops noticeably. Faltering weight is diagnosed during a physical exam and by using growth charts to track body measurements and seeing how the child's weight compares with other kids of the same age and s*x over time.
