⭐️ Product Highlight ⭐️

5 Thieves Balm

A gently warming whipped tallow inspired by the traditional Five Thieves blend, crafted to support the body during cold and flu season. This formula combines herb-infused, grass-fed and finished tallow with carefully selected essential oils, whipped into a smooth, nourishing balm that melts easily into the skin.

Use when the body feels run down, during seasonal shifts, or as part of a comforting wellness routine. Apply to the bottoms of the feet for overall support, the chest for easy breathing, or the neck and throat area when feeling tender or scratchy. A little goes a long way.

Formulated to be strong yet mindful—suitable for adults and older children with proper use.

* I've been know to use this as a "perfume balm". SO in love with its scent!

I've been climbing a mountain for what seems like longer than I should be.

Transparency and vulnerability is my thing, because in a world of so much fake and filters.. being real means so much to me.

Let me share.

Last Summer was a big time for us, two almost back-to-back beautiful weddings tested me immensely. I fell off my self-care wagon which allowed stress to overwhelm my body.

Hormones shifted, weight was gained, sleepless nights and severe irritability creeped in.

Suddenly, I became the woman who sat across my desk when I was a weight loss coach.

I ate well - gained weight
Ate less - gained weight
Worked out - gained weight
Paused on working out - gained weight

Couldn't calm my mind to sit for 5 minutes.

Here's the thing.. stress plays a MAJOR role in the health and well-being in our lives.

There is NO one "cure". No pill. No injection. No herbal concoction.

What it is though... 🙄 staying consistent

Log the food to see where you're at. ALL OF IT. (I started when I hit my HELL NO weight.)

Give yourself GRACE for where you currently are. (I for one am in a cycle of rediscovery. Both kids are married. I'm still navigating as a business owner and not working outside the home. And a big one.. learning to not being "needed" and how to fill my time with ME.)

As I coached other women and from a reminder from my sister, I cut out the extras that cause inflammation: dairy (yes, raw dairy), coffee, and gluten (aka non real bread and pasta). I was becoming VERY puffy and swollen- reaction to something? However, I'm all for carbs (real ones), fat (good fat), and protein (not too much or every day of hitting what society claims is good). I do NOT skip breakfast and like to eat early in the evening. My "fasting window" is about 16-18 hours. Right now, I'm not intensely working out- too much stress on the body will harm than heal.

If you'd like to follow along and see exactly what I'm logging- you can find me on My Fitness Pal @ Fuzzybunny77. (I'm not logging water currently but am drinking it.)

My goal.. to be mineralized, full of nutrients, and feel good in my body.

I know there's a lot of us "middle-aged" women here who may be challenged like I am. I truly believe we can do this (feel amazing) without pills, injections, and the big next "cure".

Please keep in mind- walking is THE best thing to do.. especially after meals, journaling or yelling into a pillow is healthy, and lifting heavy a couple times a week will transform the body. The number one thing though.. finding the major key stressor and eliminating it- by mentally adjusting our perception on it.

Tell me I'm not alone ⤵️

There's just something wonderful about going to my home apothecary and picking out a new blend of herbal tea to drink.
(My shelves are FULL and deep with leaves, florals, roots, berries, powders, and resins)

I've recently cut coffee out and have replaced it with herbal tea.

Sometimes it's oolong with honey, sometimes it's tulsi/red clover/nettle/hibiscus/rose hips/, and sometimes it's like this morning.. green tea with a few saffron frons.

Another fun thing is making an electuary (herbal honey) from the apothecary. Currently, I have a jar of fire honey and drink it regularly. It's spicy but much needed right now.

Anyone else have a MAJOR headache today?

I literally felt AWFUL. I'm not one to get headaches, but this morning was so bad I had to pass on whipping up a new batch of Ease Cream to lay down.

I'm also one to not take "medications", however today I tried ibuprofen- it did not touch it. A double shot of Boost Tincture (2 dropperfuls) and 1 tsp of a new tincture blend (coming soon) is also what I took. Then, I napped.

Finally, around 2pm it began to lift. My energy increased and I felt more myself.

Rest is HIGHLY important when the body is functioning at lower levels. Herbs and plants provide assistance. Some plants greatly more so than others.

I've talked a little about this new blend coming.. it's not like any of the others. It's focus is specifically on hard to tackle symptoms and "odd" illnesses that seem to get pushed under the table.

The science is there, just not in open light. What we've learned so far, isn't the full story. I'm very excited to share it, even though it may seem to promote many questions.

Science is interesting, the human body.. even more so!

This warmer weather we've had this week, invited me to dig in the dirt.

I've been turning soil and adding nutrients to it inside the greenhouse this week. The smell of dirt is just soo calming to me.

The center bed warms much faster than the two side beds, so this one always gets attention first. I still need to determine which plants will be going where, but the excitement is for sure building.

Mr. Fisher and I ate lunch in the greenhouse a couple times this week just to soak up the warmth. A couple days the greenhouse reached 100°! Thankfully we have roll up sides and windows on both the east and west walls to allow for air flow.

New seeds came in this week also and seed starting begins next week. I'll be prepping the room for that this weekend.

Here's to Spring's soon arrival! 💐

A special addition ...

Eating seasonally offers SO MANY health benefits, WHY?

When we eat what is available LOCALLY (close to home), our body utilizes the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals as well as the colors and energy that food has to offer. Our bodies are (surprisingly) linked up to sunlight, seasonal weather changes, and bacteria in our local area.

Why are root veggies on the list?
They aid in grounding, bacteria function in the gut, carbs for energy during the colder months (yes, we're supposed to be carrying a little "extra" this time of year), and hormone regulation.

Garlic, onions, and leeks are prebiotic foods, which means- aiding in digestion. These foods are needed to FEED the good bacteria in our gut to keep the "bad" at lower numbers. They assist in bloating, constipation, SIBO, candida, and other transition issues.

Greens are a bit interesting on the list. While the other fruits and vegetables preserve well, greens are typically grown late fall into Winter and early to late Spring. These cleanse and flush the body of excess hormones, fat, and wastes and are best cooked sautéed or steamed.

Along with the growing season of greens, cruciferious veggies tend to be better blanched and frozen when growing season has seized. Great for gut health - along with anxiety, depression, mood swings, and hormone fluctuations- cruciferious vegetables are a much need for the body.

Fruit this time of year is best baked or stewed to keep digestion working as it was intended. With added spices of cinnamon, clove, ginger, and cardamom, a tasty and body-warming snack or dessert is easy to prepare and great for digestion.

Soups, stews, and long cooking times help to break down the fibers and starches in these vegetables, making digestion easy while obtaining all the goodness they have to offer. Adding in meaty bones amps up digestive goodness.

What foods are your favorites this time of year?
