We did a thing this week…

Direct Primary Care docs, in the trenches, fighting for health care laws that will:

✅ Improve the referral process for those with HMOs = better and faster access to care

✅ lower medication costs for patients by allowing doctors to order meds at wholesale prices and directly dispense them to patients ( and passing on the cost savings).

46 other states (including ALL of the other New England states) have similar medication dispensing laws in place.

On Tuesday we did a thing. DPC doctors across the state banded together and attended a hearing (both in person and virtually) in support of bill H.1343.

This was an all day affair that required shuffling of schedules and moving of appointments in order to be present and give testimony.

In total, we had about 9 people give verbal testimony and many others gave written testimony to help get this bill moving forward toward a House vote.

The sweetest news was after the hearing, Sen Mike Moore’s chief of staff emailed us to inform that they had filed legislation for a mirror bill to go through the Senate. This feels like a big victory (the bill has to go through the House and the Senate to move forward).

I’d like to say a big thank you to , , and everyone who took time out of their busy day to submit testimony.

Here’s a success story for you: On Friday I was at the office for a few hours of admin work— in my sweatshirt and jeans. I even had the dog with me. But then I got a text at noon from one of my patients asking if I could see her sick kiddo before the weekend set in.

Here’s the beauty of DPC: even though it wasn’t a true clinic day for me and I was in my jeans, my answer was “of course. Come on down right now.”

In less than 30 min, we were able to get her sweet little one checked out. No lines, no staff, no crowded waiting room full of other sick people, no copays or expensive ER visits. Just her mom and me (her P*P who has known her since birth). It doesn’t get any better than that! 🙌🏻
