My daughter and I just went through a drive through. I could BARELY understand the kid taking my order. This made me recognize how hard hearing at a drive through likely is for those who are hard of hearing.

With technology today, why isn’t there a transcription of the conversation on the screen? If they can digitally post what’s being ordered, they can transcribe the conversation!

Anyone in the McDonald’s family?! Let’s make a change!

It’s Medicare Open Enrollment time!

I am not here to tell you if Medicare + a Supplement or a Medicare Advantage plan is best for you. What I’m here to tell you is how important it is to discuss your healthcare needs with a reliable, trustworthy insurance agent. Local to us we have Kevin McIntire (Auburn), Wendy Maggert (Garrett), and Lola Damstra (Spencerville)- if you know of other names please share below!

From an audiology standpoint, I recognize some advantage and supplement plans advertise a hearing aid benefit that functions like a discount plan in most cases. We try VERY hard to stay in network with these plans while ensuring their reimbursements make logical business sense for us (which seems to change year to year). If you have questions about the hearing aid benefits on the plans just call- we’ll be totally transparent about what the plan includes (or doesn’t include) and pricing structures, and whether or not we plan to take that plan in 2026.

All of this to say, don’t base your health insurance on an ancillary benefit- view it as a bonus! Talk to a trusted agent about your main medical concerns and needs, and understand all of your options.

And last, don’t sign up for your healthcare through a TV ad, or spam phone call- ask your friends who they go to and have an in person conversation with an expert.

You need to be the driver of your healthcare- pick up the phone and call a local agent! If you need help finding a phone number, let us know!

A little field trip to Angola today to help a family get their mom new hearing aids so they can continue to have great conversation! If you ask AND you’re willing to pay for my time and gas, I’ll be there! Hearing care is WAY too important to allow your friends or family to feel like it’s not accessible due to mobility constraints.

A little backstory- when I was first putting together my plans for Audiology Always I had all intentions of offering “mobile” services where I come to you to complete a hearing test and to fit your hearing aids. I even bought equipment that can be portable for that reason. Thanks to all of you, the office got busy QUICK and I was never able to see the mobile part to fruition.

All of this to say, my heart is in having the best hearing care possible until our last day on earth! If I can be helpful when it seems impossible to make the trip to Auburn, just ask!

To our Audiology Always snowbirds:

If you run into issues with your hearing aids while you’re in your warmer home for the winter, please call us and we’ll help direct you to someone local to help. The perk of being an Audiology Always patient is that ANY audiologist can work with your hearing aids.

Worth noting: if you got your hearing aids from Audiology Always we KNOW they are still within their 3 year manufacturer warranty. Do not be convinced that your hearing aids are ruined and you need new!

If you seek assistance from a provider local to you, you will very likely be charged their office visit charge for their expertise! Do not be caught off guard by this- we would do the same!

We are a call away with any questions! We would love to guide you to a likeminded office- let us do the research for you!

Meet some newer faces: Eugenia is a Ball State University audiology graduate student who spends her Thursdays with us! Abby is the new voice on the phone- she has fit right in and is the missing piece we needed at just the right time! And Amanda, well she has been driving this bus since day 1!

Amanda and I snuck away from the office yesterday to attend the Lagrange County senior fair. We’ll leave out the minor detail that we didn’t pass up the Blue Gate buffet and pie! I’m tellin’ ya, that coconut cream pie can sure cure a rainy day! 🥧 ☔️
